Estratégias de combate ao desmatamento ilegal no município de Altamira-PA

Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa apresenta uma avaliação da eficiência e efetividade das estratégias de combate ao desmatamento no município de Altamira, localizado no sudoeste paraense que atualmente lidera os índices de desmatamento ilegal na Amazônia Legal. As informações coletadas junto aos órgãos ambientais evidenciaram que a principal estratégia de combate ao desmatamento no município é a fiscalização ambiental. No entanto, esta estratégia não mostrou a efetividade necessária para conter o avanço do desmatamento ilegal, uma vez que órgãos responsáveis não dispõem de pessoal e infraestrutura adequada e o município não dispõem de um programa de regularização fundiária efetivo. O Programa Amazônia Protege do Ministério Público Federal, embora ainda incipiente no município é uma estratégia que em conjunto com a Lista de Desmatamento Ilegal da Secretaria Estadual de Meio Ambiente e Sustentabilidade poderia contribuir significativamente para a diminuição dos índices de desmatamento ilegal no município, caso houvesse articulação municipal das atividades

Abstract: This research presents an evaluation of the efficiency and effectiveness of strategies to combat deforestation in the municipality of Altamira located in the southwest of Pará, which currently leads the rates of illegal deforestation in the Legal Amazon. The information collected from the environmental agencies showed that the main strategy for combating deforestation in the municipality is environmental inspection. However, this strategy did not show the necessary effectiveness to contain the advance of illegal deforestation, since responsible agencies do not have adequate personnel and infrastructure and the municipality does not have an effective land regularization program. The Amazon Protects Program of the Federal Public Ministry, although still incipient in the municipality, is a strategy that, together with the List of Illegal Deforestation of the State Secretariat for the Environment and Sustainability, could contribute significantly to the reduction of illegal deforestation rates in the municipality, if there was a municipal articulation of activities
