A tradução de pedidos de patente na perspectiva da pragmática

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho descreve e analisa traduções de patentes. Como arcabouço teórico, usam-se as teorias de Gutt (2000/2004), que aplicam a Teoria de Relevância (SPERBER; WILSON, 1995) à tradução. O objetivo central é verificar a aplicação das teorias de Gutt (2000/2004) ao objeto, apontando que há lacunas nos estudos do teórico, principalmente no que tange a textos de natureza técnico-científica. Levantase também uma hipótese acerca do papel da pesquisa e da aquisição de conhecimento durante o ato da tradução, contemplando a noção de que o tradutor pode adentrar os ambientes cognitivos dos outros atores metarrepresentados durante o ato tradutório.

Abstract: Patent translations are analyzed and described herein. Gutt's (2000/2004) theories, which apply Relevance Theory (SPERBER; WILSON, 1995) to translation, are used as theoretical groundwork. The main objective is to verify the application of Gutt's (2000/2004) theories to patent translations, highlighting that there are gaps in his studies, particularly regarding translations of a technical and scientific nature. A hypothesis regarding the role of research and acquisition of knowledge is also considered, in which the translator can enter the cognitive environments of other actors which are meta-represented during the act of translation.
