A Dualidade como princípio estruturante em Primeiras estórias de Guimarães Rosa

Abstract

Resumo: Dispondo-se a realizar uma leitura global de Primeiras Estórias, de Guimarães Rosa, a partir do problema crítico levantado - que se exprime na pergunta-problema "qual o princípio organizador que rege a dinâmica unidade-diversidade em Primeiras Estórias, de Guimarães Rosa?" - esta pesquisa tem por objetivo geral compreender aspectos da organicidade das estórias no conjunto do livro, o que se realiza por meio dos seguintes objetivos específicos: 1) defender a dualidade como linha interpretativa; 2) analisar como a dualidade atua nos diversos elementos composicionais da narrativa, especialmente, o enredo, o ponto de vista, a arquitetura do livro e os personagens; e 3) apresentar uma interpretação para o projeto literário que a obra representa. Nessa tarefa, segue um percurso que se divide em quatro grandes etapas, vinculadas aos indícios que encaminharam à construção dessa linha interpretativa. Metodologicamente, optou-se por organizar as análises a partir dos quatro níveis de composição elencados, a saber: 1) o enredo, em que se desvendou o paralelismo de dois enredos, seja nas segundas estórias ou no desenredo; 2) o ponto de vista, marcado pela ambivalência espacial de uma narrador que se aproxima, mas se mantém a distância; 3) a arquitetura composicional, dualizada entre a força unitária de cada conto e a complexa inter-relação e organicidade das partes no conjunto; e, por fim, 4) a caracterização dos personagens, problematizada, dentre outros polos, entre o Bem e o Mal. Assim, não só se confirmou a extensividade do princípio formal da dualidade em Primeiras Estórias, como se pôde perceber sua efetividade em fornecer uma linha interpretativa clara e exequível para análise literária dos diversos contos, tendo em vista, além de uma leitura global, a matéria histórica figurada nessas narrativas. A partir desses resultados gerados pelo exercício hermenêutico foi possível, ao fim, esboçar a sugestão de uma interpretação geral para o projeto literário de Rosa neste primeiro livro de contos curtos, que tem a dualidade ficçãorealidade como matriz de representação de uma cosmovisão dos sujeitos e da realidade social brasileira também ambivalente, sinalizando, portanto, um projeto inovador muito bem executado e a altura das expectativas que 1956 possa ter gerado aos leitores de Guimarães Rosa. Abstract: Aiming to make a global reading of Guimarães Rosa's First Stories (translated to English as The third bank of the river and other stories), departing from the critical problem raised - which expresses itself in the problem-question "What is the organizing principle that governs the unity-diversity dynamic in Guimarães Rosa's First Stories? "- the general objective of this research is to understand aspects of the organicity of the stories in the book as a whole, which is accomplished through the following specific objectives: 1) to defend duality as an interpretative line; 2) to analyze how duality acts in the various compositional elements of the narrative, especially the plot, the point of view, the architecture of the book and the characters; 3) to present an interpretation for the literary project that the work represents. Linked to the signs that led to the construction of this interpretive line, this work follows a path which is divided into four major stages. Methodologically, the analyses are organized under four compositional levels, namely: 1) the plot, in which the parallelism of two plots was revealed, either in the "second stories" or in the "desenredo"; 2) the point of view, marked by the spatial ambivalence of a narrator who approximates, but keeps himself at a distance; 3) the compositional architecture, dualized between the unit force of each story and the complex interrelationship and organicity of the parts as a set; and, lastly, (4) the characterization of the characters, problematized, among other poles, between Good and Evil. Thus, not only was the extensiveness of the formal principle of duality confirmed in First Stories, but also its effectiveness in providing a clear and workable interpretative line for literary analysis of the various stories, in view of, besides a global reading, the historical matter figured in these narratives. From these results obtained via hermeneutic exercise, it was possible, at the end, to sketch a suggestion of a general interpretation for the literary project of Rosa in this first book of short stories, which has the fiction-reality duality as the matrix of representation of worldview, which is also ambivalente, about the men and the Brazilian social reality. Therefore, these appointments signal an innovative project very well executed and at the height of expectations that 1956 may have roused in the readers of Guimarães Rosa.
