Illustração Paranaense : educação, arte e paranismo em revista (1927-1930)

Abstract

Resumo: O presente estudo analisa a revista Illustração Paranaense: mensário paranista de arte e actualidades (1927-1930), de autoria e edição de João Baptista Groff, que circulou no estado do Paraná e teve números distribuídos na Europa, buscando compreender sua contribuição para o processo educacional de construção de uma narrativa de exaltação da história e da cultura do Paraná baseada na inculcação de novos símbolos representativos. O recorte temporal coincide com o tempo de existência da revista, iniciando-se em novembro de 1927 e finalizando em 1930, ano em que Groff deixa sua direção e passa a se dedicar ao cinema. Dessa forma, pretende-se compreender quais eram os pressupostos de seus conteúdos expressos em textos e imagens, bem como delinear suas estratégias de disseminar os novos ideais culturais do estado propostos pelo Movimento Paranista. Além da própria revista, tratada aqui como fonte e objeto de pesquisa, outros periódicos do período formam a seleção de fontes, os quais, analisados como veículos informais de transmissão de informações e ideias, podem agregar para a compreensão da construção de um espaço cultural público. O referencial teórico conta com as reflexões a respeito dos impressos de autores como Chartier (2001) e Pesavento (2004), bem como são consideradas as perspectivas de Vieira (2007) sobre o papel da imprensa no Paraná. Também será feito o diálogo com as discussões de Morel e Barros (2003) sobre as relações entre palavras, imagens e poder, sendo o conceito de memória mobilizado com base no diálogo com Joël Candau (2019), Pierre Nora (1993) e Michael Pollak (1989). Em termos metodológicos, a análise realizada leva em conta aspectos como a materialidade do periódico, sua circulação, as formações discursivas, as narrativas nele contidas e as temáticas enfatizadas, tendo como subsídio as colocações de Alejandro Tiana Ferrer (2017) sobre o campo da Educação Social, a qual, utilizando-se de perspectivas que envolvem educar os cidadãos por meio de veículos como os artefatos de comunicação, aborda questões como a construção identitária dos Estados-nação. Foi possível, assim, observar a participação da revista Illustração Paranaense na divulgação de aspectos da história do Paraná por meio do Paranismo e na construção de uma identidade vinculada ao seu território. O periódico contribuiu, dessa forma, para a difusão de símbolos e narrativas de caráter regional

Abstract: The present study analyzes the magazine Illustração paranaense: mensário paranista de arte e actualidades (1927-1930), authored and edited by João Baptista Groff, which circulated in the state of Paraná and had issues distributed in Europe, seeking to understand its contribution to the educational process of constructing a narrative that exalts the history and culture of Paraná, based on the inculcation of new representative symbols.The time frame coincides with the magazine’s existence, starting in November 1927 and ending in 1930, the year Groff left its direction and began to dedicate himself to cinema. Thus, the aim is to understand the assumptions of its content expressed in texts and images, as well as to delineate its strategies for disseminating the new cultural ideals of the state proposed by the Movimento Paranista (Paranista Movement). In addition to the magazine itself, treated here as both a source and an object of research, other periodicals from the period form the selection of sources, which, when analyzed as informal vehicles for the transmission of information and ideas, can contribute to the understanding of the construction of a public cultural space. The theoretical framework includes reflections on printed materials by authors such as Chartier (2001) and Pesavento (2004), as well as considering Vieira's (2007) perspectives on the role of the press in Paraná. Dialogue will also be established with the discussions of Morel and Barros (2003) on the relations between words, images, and power, with the concept of memory being mobilized from dialogue with Joël Candau (2019), Pierre Nora (1993), and Michael Pollak (1989). In methodological terms, the analysis carried out takes into account aspects such as the periodical's materiality, its circulation, the discursive formations and narratives contained within it, and the themes emphasized, using as a subsidy the propositions of Alejandro Tiana Ferrer (2017) regarding the educational field of Social Education, which addresses social issues such as the construction of nation-state identity through educational perspectives of educating citizens via vehicles like communication artifacts. The study is able to observe the Illustração Paranaense magazine’s participation in the dissemination of aspects of Paraná's history through Paranismo.
