Uma busca de sentido em meio à dor : cifras e metáforas nos (des)encontros entre províncias finitas de significado em Die grössere Hoffnung de Ilse Aichinger

Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa investiga o primeiro e único romance da escritora austríaca Ilse Aichinger (1921-2016), Die größere Hoffnung, publicado originalmente em 1948 e pioneiro na literatura alemã a tematizar a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Apesar de sua importância histórica e experimentalidade linguística, a obra ainda carece de uma ampla recepção e uma tradução integral no contexto brasileiro. Inserida no panorama literário de pós-guerra em língua alemã, a pesquisa contextualiza vida e obra de Aichinger e o percurso crítico inicial do romance (Fried 1949; Schreiber 1949; Danneberg 1948; Guggenheimer 1951; Siegburg 1951), que salienta a coexistência de múltiplas realidades na narrativa. -a para examinar as estratégias linguísticas especialmente a metáfora e uso de cifras que articulam diferentes níveis de realidade no romance. Além disso, o trabalho revisita o conceito de mímesis com base em Erich Auerbach (1971) e Luiz Costa Lima (1980) e propõe uma análise narratológica fundamentada nos conceitos de Gérard Genette (1972). A análise focaliza como a alternância entre o mundo concreto da guerra e o universo onírico-fantástico da protagonista uma criança meio-judia em fuga constrói sua experiência vivida. As análises apresentadas nesta dissertação mostram como a teoria de Schütz pode ser um meio de interpretação possível para Die größere Hoffnung, especialmente no que diz respeito à estrutura narrativa e à forma como diferentes níveis de realidade são construídos no nível textual do romance. Este estudo conclui que a alternância entre os mundos, aliada ao uso de recursos figurativos, contribui para a construção literária da experiência vivida pela protagonista e exige do leitor ou da leitora um papel ativo na construção de sentido da obra

Abstract: This study investigates the first and only novel of Austrian author Ilse Aichinger (19212016), Die größere Hoffnung, originally published in 1948, one of the first novels to address the Second World War period. Despite its historical relevance and linguistic distinctiveness, the novel has not yet been widely received in Brazil, nor has it been fully translated into Portuguese. Set within the post-war German-language literature initial critical reception (Fried 1949; Schreiber 1949; Danneberg 1948; Guggenheimer 1951; Siegburg 1951), which highlights the coexistence of multiple realities in the narrative. The study draws on the concept of Finite Provinces of Meaning (FPM), proposed by Alfred Schütz (1945), mobilizing it to examine different linguistic strategies particularly the use of metaphorical language and ciphers , which articulate different levels of reality in the novel. Furthermore, it revisits the notion of mimesisbased on Erich Auerbach (1971) and Luiz Costa Lima (1980) and proposes a narratological analysis founded on the concepts of Gérard Genette (1972). The analysis focuses on how the alternation between the war concrete world and the dream-like world of the protagonist a half-Jewish child on the run creates the experiences lived by the character and demands an active role from the reader in the meaning. The analyses presented in this dissertation show Die größere Hoffnung, particularly in what concerns the narrative structure and the way in which different layers of reality are built alternation between the worlds, combined with the use of figurative resources, contributes to the construction of the experiences lived by the protagonist and demands an active role from the reader in the construiction of the novel's meaning.
