Abstract: Our dissertation aims, through the Theory of Discourse Analysis from a French perspective, to establish a study of the Brazilian translation, by Celso Nogueira, of the work The Journals of Sylvia Plath: 1950-1962 (2017), by Sylvia Plath. In this way, our writing provides an opportunity to reflect on the way in which the text is constituted, based on its production conditions, and how this determines the meanings related to the effects of feminine and femininity that the work brings into play. Thus, we seek to analyze certain discursive functioning of effects of femininity in the text in question, aiming to reflect on the (im)possibilities of meaning of the enunciator as a female subject, that is, to understand the way in which discourses about feminine constituted in the Journals are made by the intersection of discourses in the materiality of writing oneself. Sylvia Plath's Journals are a record of her experiences as a woman and are marked by her attempt to define herself as a subject and find a path that meets her aspirations, which transcends and exceeds the limits imposed on her due to her significant inscription of being feminine. Thus, the enunciator, constituting herself in the utterances as a gendered body through the interpellation of the capitalist subjectform, is constituted through her identification with a feminine subject-form that results from the production conditions in which her narrative is inserted. In view of this, all performances of feminine that, through the path of subjectivation, the emergence of the desiring subject, unfold or, in some way, question these lines, find resistance and difficulties to be and to be meaningful, a tension that can be perceived in the functioning of the discursive sequences that we analyzed during the research. In this way, from the pendulum movement that Discourse Analysis raises, instigated by the beat of theory and analysis, our reflection passes through fundamental concepts of the theory, referring to the ideological functioning and the constitution of the subjects, in order to then reflect on the way in which the feminine performed by the enunciator is constituted and functions as an effect of meaning in the work in question.
