Abstract: This research focused on discovering ways for a teacher to learn, relearn and reframe her beliefs about teaching and learning English, and also how this movement deconstructed her perspectives in relation to the prescriptive context of teaching in which she was inserted, with the objective of intending her process of understanding the Critical literacy and influencing the planning of the extension course; questioning the service of who the activities were, and also, trying to understand for what reasons the practical practices in attempts to teach and learn, from the LC, could be coherent with the conception of language as discourse, and as a social practice in sense attribution. This investigation is based on criticisms of banking education (FREIRE, 1987) and its connections with prescriptive English education, which directed the research to the need for teachers to rethink their methodologies from the perspective of Critical Literacy, which, according to Zacchi (2014, p. 140), "(...) consider knowledge as being constructed, so that the meaning of the text is always multiple and depends on the context in which it is conveyed and interpreted". As for the methodology, it is an autoethnographic, qualitative-interpretative research with an emphasis on everyday school life (ANDRÉ, 2005). This study was developed, in the English classes offered through an extension project, in a public school located in São José dos Pinhais - PR in the second half of 2021. The interpretation of the generated data suggests the need to insert a critical teaching of English, and the urgency of a constant exercise of expansion of perspective and development of the look (MONTE MÓR, 2013), always attentive to the possibilities of weaving dialogues with other voices, caused in teachings and learning that happen from the contact with the other, generating "unlearning" (FABRÍCIO, 2006; FABRÍCIO, 2017; SPIVAK, 2004), which was outlined from the questioning of the truths that common sense considers natural and true, to foster agency as a form of resistance.
