Abstract: This work is inserted in a school and academic context of social struggles that aim to eradicate racism in public educational institutions. Considering that the textbook (TB) and the Brazilian public school can, through silencing, contribute to the perpetuation of racism (MUNANGA, 2005; CAVALLEIRO, 2005), the Law 10.639/03 and its amendment to the Law 11.645/08 regulate the contents of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture in basic schools. Some researches regarding foreign language (FL) didactic materials approved by the National Program for Textbooks (PNLD) point out that FL teaching-learning contributes to the contact with diversity and difference and, then, to the discussions on ethnic-racial identifications (FERREIRA, 2015; OLIVEIRA, 2014) as well as paying attention to the erasure and/or problematic approach to these issues in TB and in the Spanish classroom (BARROS, 2013; ENEVAN, 2016; JOVINO, 2013; OLIVEIRA, 2018; SILVÉRIO, 2014; 2019; SOUZA, 2016; COUTO; JOVINO; MACIEL, 2013). Still, it is urgent that research and teacher training contribute to the construction of a teaching-learning aimed at the eradication of racism in schools (SANTA CLARA, 2017; SOUZA, 2016; DAMBRÓS, 2016; ENEVAN, 2016; WOGINSKI, 2018; FERREIRA, 2015). Starting from the field of Indisciplinary and Transgressive Applied Linguistics (MOITA LOPES, 2006; PENNYCOOK, 2006), this research draws on Bakhtin and his Circle's conceptions of language understanding it as a social, ideological and historically marked construct (BAKHTIN, 2011; 2015; VOLÓCHINOV, [1929] 2018). Based on the Dialogical Analysis of Discourse (DDA), guided by the Bakhtinian perspective, we build possible understandings about the discourses on ethnic-racial relations that cross the contents of the collection Sentidos en lengua española (FREITAS; COSTA, 2016) in dialogue with its authors. The analyses of the discourses of the listed TB take place in conjunction with the understanding of the notions of identity, difference and alterity (HALL, 2010; 2016; WOODWARD, 2000; BAKHTIN, 2011; MUNIZ, 2010), black, indigenous and white identity, cultural and social formation (WALSH, 2009; 2013; MIGNOLO, 2003; QUIJANO, 2007; RIVERA CUSICANQUI, 2018; GIL, 2017; MUNDURUKU, 2012; KRENAK, 2019; LUCIANO, 2006; GONZALES, 2019; MUNIZ, 2010; GOMES, 2005; ALMEIDA, 2018; SILVA, 2017; BENTO, 2002; hooks, 2013). It is possible to observe that the authors start from a critical perspective of Spanish teaching-learning and that their collection can contribute to a great extent to discussions about ethno-racial issues in the classroom. We also pointed out that there is a lack of in-depth discussion about white identifications in some units, which may make it difficult to understand this social group as a (re)producer of racism; the small amount of texts written by indigenous authors may prevent the understanding of the issue of native peoples through their place of enunciation; the work presents contents that value black people and indigenous peoples, although its issues are largely linked to racism and its criticism. Considering these problems, the teacher's mediation can contribute to the potentiality that the collection Sentidos makes possible in its discussions and, in this way, create possible ways towards an antiracist and liberating education in the teaching-learning of Spanish.
