Adaptações de A bela e a fera : diálogos intertextuais e intermidiáticos

Abstract

Resumo: O principal objetivo da pesquisa foi comparar as versões literárias de A Bela e a Fera de Madame de Villeneuve (1740) e Madame de Beaumont (1756) de modo a analisá-las à luz da animação proposta pela Companhia Disney (1991). Com base nas correlações existentes entre as obras, constatou-se que a versão cinematográfica está inserida em uma tradição (literária, artística, midiática e cultural) semelhante à dos contos de fadas. Com a passagem da tradição oral para a escrita, novos elementos surgiram nas narrativas, e cada autor(a) passou a reinterpretá-los com base em seu contexto cultural. Madame de Villeneuve, por exemplo, direcionou sua escrita para jovens casadouras, assim, durante a narrativa, retomou aspectos relacionados ao matrimônio do século XVIII. Madame de Beaumont, por sua vez, adaptou a obra para o público infantil, reconfigurando sua escrita a fim de torná-la didática ao ensino da língua francesa às crianças inglesas. Com o desenvolvimento tecnológico, novas mídias foram criadas e os modos de contar histórias se ampliaram. O cinema de animação figurou como um meio audiovisual para contar histórias. A análise do processo de adaptação intermidiática esteve pautada nas seguintes abordagens teóricas: Linda Hutcheon, Gérard Genette, Irina Rajewsky, Julia Kristeva, Claus Clüver, dentre outros. Logo, por meio de recursos sonoros e visuais, a animação recria a narrativa, fazendo surgir novas personagens, como Horloge, Lumière, Madame Samovar e Gaston. Desse modo, com base na mídia adotada e no contexto de produção das obras, analisou-se o processo adaptativo em suas múltiplas capacidades de promoção de interconexões.

Abstract: The main goal of this study was to analyze the correlations between the literary versions of Beauty and the Beast, written by Madame de Villeneuve (1740) and Madame de Beaumont (1756), and the animation of the Disney Company (1991). A study of the intertwining of the works showed that the film version is embedded in an artistic, cultural, media and literary tradition in the same way as the two versions of the fairy tales. With the transition from oral tradition to writing, changes were made to the narratives, and each author began to reinterpret them from their own cultural context. It was observed, for example, that Madame de Villeneuve wrote for young people who were going to get married, and, throughout the narrative, she returned to aspects related to eighteenth century marriage. Madame de Beaumont, in turn, adapted the work for children when she rewrote the narrative to teach French to English children. Technological developments led to the creation of media and new forms of storytelling. Animated movies emerged as a form of audiovisual media for storytelling. To examine the process of intermediate adaptation, we followed the theoretical approaches of Linda Hutcheon, Gérard Genette, Irina Rajewsky, Julia Kristeva, and Claus Clüver, among others. It was perceived how animation used sound and visual resources to recreate the narrative. From this perspective, new characters were created, such as Horloge, Lumière, Madame Samovar and Gaston. We sought to consider the medium and the context in which the works were produced in order to analyze the adaptive process in its multiple bundles of interconnections.
