O um e o outro : uma retradução informada de A Portuguesa, de Robert Musil

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho tem como objetivo final a produção de uma retradução informada do conto A Portuguesa, de Robert Musil. Essa produção tradutológica vem acompanhada por duas discussões teóricas: uma revisão crítica do conceito da retradução e uma análise da fortuna crítica em torno do conto a ser traduzido. Há, ainda, a referência a duas traduções do conto A Portuguesa já existentes, uma delas para o português e a outra, para o inglês. A partir dos dois pontos de revisão bibliográfica, acompanhados pelo referencial prático oferecido pelas traduções, foi possível desenvolver uma leitura muito mais profunda do conto do que a que havia sido feita em um primeiro momento. Isso contribuiu de forma visível para enriquecer a retradução encontrada ao final deste trabalho, uma retradução que integra em si reflexões desenvolvidas na fortuna crítica e que estabelece um diálogo tanto com esta quanto com outras traduções de A Portuguesa já existentes. Além de oferecer uma nova tradução de uma obra de Musil, esta dissertação contribui com o conjunto de conhecimento acadêmico e teórico da obra musiliana no contexto brasileiro Palavras-chave: Robert Musil. Abstract: The goal of the present dissertation was the production of an informed translation of Robert Musil's short story Die Portugiesin. The translation project is accompanied by two theoretical discussions: a critical review of the concept of retranslation and the analysis of critical texts regarding the short story. Antoher element is the presence of two already existing translations of the short story, one of them in Portuguese and the other one in English. With the assistance both of the bibliography and the source offered by both translations, it was possible to achieve a deeper reading of the short story than before this contact. This in turn influenced to a high degree the quality of the retranslation itself, which integrates considerations developeb by different authors and establishes a dialogue not only with them but also with other previous translations of Die Portugiesin. In addition to offering a new translation of a text by Robert Musil, this dissertation contributes to the set of academical and theoretical body of knowledge of Musil's work within the Brazilian context.
