Expressões do feminino em disputa : educação de gênero no pontificado de Pio XII (1939-1958)

Abstract

Resumo: Esta pesquisa investiga a educação de gênero no discurso católico em tensão com as expressões do feminino que estavam em disputa em torno do ideal de mulher cristã no período de 1939 a 1958, durante o pontificado de Pio XII. Tendo como objetivo analisar os posicionamentos da Igreja Católica em relação à mulher, de modo mais particular identificando qual o lugar que essa ocupava no debate encarado pela instituição naquele momento. Para responder às indagações que norteiam este estudo, valeram os documentos oriundos da Igreja Católica, disponíveis na base da biblioteca online do Vaticano. As modalidades de documentos selecionados como fontes para esta pesquisa foram: Audiências Gerais;Cartas Encíclicas; Discursos; O Catecismo da Igreja Católica; O Código de Direito Canônico; e Bíblia Pastoral. Restringimo-nos ao estudo das fontes que se encontravam nos idiomas Português, Italiano, Francês, Inglês e Espanhol. As fontes foram analisadas de acordo com o proposto por John Greville Agard Pocock em sua obra "Linguagens do ideário Político". Esta modalidade de análise é denominada Contextualismo Linguístico (CL). No primeiro capítulo deste estudo, O pontificado de Pio XII na Igreja Católica (1939-1958), buscamos delinear o cenário histórico que a Igreja Católica enfrentava durante o pontificado de Pio XII. Procuramos nos ater a reconstrução do contexto linguístico do debate público que a Igreja Católica participava naquele momento por meio dos fragmentos históricos expressos nos documentos analisados, os quais nos possibilitaram identificar os principais temas que estavam em discussão no período em estudo. No segundo capítulo, Eixos do debate católico na primeira metade do século XX, apresentamos o itinerário do feminino no discurso católico e a análise do lugar que a mulher ocupava no debate religioso no período, elucidando as expressões do feminino em disputa com o ideal de mulher cristã proposto ela Igreja Católica. Desenvolvemos ainda a análise e interpretação das interações entre o feminino e o masculino, buscando identificar possíveis mudanças sociais expressas nos documentos que se referem à articulação dos papéis entre homem e mulher, ou seja, se há demonstração de alteração no discurso da Igreja Católica quanto às relações de gênero. Abstract: This research investigates gender education in Catholic discourse in tension with the expressions of the feminine that were in dispute with the ideal of Christian woman from 1939 to 1958 during the pontificate of Pius XII. Its purpose is to analyze the positions of the Catholic Church in relation to women, in a more particular way identifying the place that she occupied in the debate faced by the institution at that time. To answer the questions that guide this study, it's used documents originating from the Catholic Church were available at the Vatican's online library base. The modalities of documents selected as sources for this research were: General Audiences; Encyclical Letters; Speeches; The Catechism of the Catholic Church; The Code of Canon Law; and Pastoral Bible. We restrict ourselves to the study of the sources that were in the languages Portuguese, Italian, French, English and Spanish. The sources were analyzed according to the one proposed by John Greville Agard Pocock in his work "Languages of the political ideology". This mode of analysis is called Linguistic Contextualism (CL). In the first chapter of this study, Pius XII's pontificate in the Catholic Church (1939-1958), we sought to delineate the historical scenario that the Catholic Church faced during the pontificate of Pius XII. We sought to reconstruct the linguistic context of the public debate that the Catholic Church was participating in at that time through the historical fragments expressed in the documents analyzed, which enabled us to identify the main themes that were under discussion at that time. In the second chapter, Axes of the 20th Catholic debate in the first half of the 20th century, we presented the itinerary of the feminine in Catholic discourse, the place occupied by women in the religious debate during the period under study, elucidating the feminine expressions in dispute with the ideal of woman proposed by the Catholic Church. Thus we try to identify the interactions between the feminine and the masculine, seeking to identify possible social changes expressed in the documents that refer to the articulation of roles between men and women, as well as, if there is a demonstration of a change in the discourse of the Catholic Church in relation to the perception of the place of the masculine and the feminine.
