Um encontro de gerações portuguesas : Almeida Garrett e Amadeu Lopes Sabino sob A lua de Bruxelas

Abstract

Resumo: O romance A lua de Bruxelas, de Amadeu Lopes Sabino, publicado em 2000, ainda no rescaldo das comemorações do II Centenário do Nascimento do escritor português Almeida Garrett, presta uma homenagem a este, recriando um período da sua vida, entre 1834 e 1836, no qual o poeta residiu na capital belga, como encarregado de negócios de seu governo, ao lado de sua jovem e sedutora esposa Luísa Midosi. As dificuldades financeiras de Garrett, devido ao desprezo do governo português marcado pela instabilidade de um regime há pouco instaurado, somado às dificuldades sentimentais do poeta em relação ao comportamento de sua esposa, d.o a tonalidade deste romance que se destaca pela sua forma narrativa. O narrador, que também se assume como autor do romance, oferece ao leitor um misto de narrativa factual, baseada nos seus estudos histórico-biográficos, e imaginada, a qual ele revela ao longo de sua construção ficcional. Assim sendo, o presente trabalho divide-se em capítulos que tratam de observar a mescla entre o discurso histórico e o discurso ficcional, os recursos narrativos utilizados pelo narrador, "deus ex machina" desta história, e, ainda, as relações de identificação entre esse autor-narrador-personagem e o protagonista de seu romance, Garrett. Abstract: The novel A lua de Bruxelas, by Amadeu Lopes Sabino, published in 2000, still at the end of the Second Centenary of the Portuguese writer Almeida Garrett's birth, pays homage to Garrett, recreating his life from 1834 to 1836, when the poet lived in the Belgian capital, in charge of businesses of the Portuguese government, with his young and seductive wife Luisa Midosi. The financial difficulties of Garrett, due to the disdain of the Portuguese government, which was marked by the instability of a regimen recently adopted, together with the sentimental difficulties of the poet in relation to the behaviour of his wife, give the tonality of this novel that stands out for its narrative form. The narrator, who also presents himself as the author of the novel, offers the reader a mixture of factual narrative, based on his descriptivebiographical studies, and fictional narrative, which is revealed throughout the fictional construction. This way, the present work is divided into three chapters dedicated, respectively, to such mixture of a historic and a fictional discourse, to the narrative resources used by the storyteller, "deus ex machina" of this story, as well as to the identification relationship between this author-narratorcharacter and the protagonist of the story, Garrett.
