Histórias desveladas : considerações sobre a história da indumentária e da moda na exposição

Abstract

Resumo: Esta tese percorre um caminho de (re)descobertas dos valores e significados dos objetos e do modo como participam da construção dos indivíduos, do coletivo e das memórias. Teve como objetivo investigar as propostas de construção de versões sobre a História da Moda brasileira a partir da exposição digital e online intitulada "Momentos Inesquecíveis", realizada pelo Museu da Indumentária e da Moda - MIMo. A mostra foi criada em 2012 e é composta por "histórias desveladas" que apresentam fotografias de família do Acervo "Imagens Fotográficas" do MIMo, depoimentos das/os cedentes das imagens e textos técnicos elaborados por especialistas. Foquei minha pesquisa na proposta expositiva da mostra para estudar como as narrativas do cotidiano foram articuladas com as narrativas sobre a História da Moda. Como narrativas do cotidiano considerei as fotografias de família e os depoimentos das pessoas que as cederam para o MIMo. Enquanto o texto técnico produzido por especialistas categorizei como narrativas sobre a História da Moda. Para realizar o estudo, estabeleci o recorte temporal de 2012 a 2016, que resultou na sistematização de 18 "histórias desveladas" e análise de três "histórias desveladas". Para tanto, estabeleci um referencial teórico das áreas da História do Design e da Moda, da Museologia, dos Estudos da Cultura Material e da Cultura Visual. Utilizei entrevistas com as fundadoras do MIMo para reconstruir seu projeto e a criação da exposição "Momentos Inesquecíveis" e fiz a crítica aos documentos imagéticos e textuais a partir do princípio da intertextualidade. A partir das análises notei que existem articulações entre as diferentes camadas de informação presentes nas histórias que, ora reforçam ou complementam as memórias sobre os eventos, ora as invisibilizam ou tensionam com informações que refletem as narrativas sobre a História da Moda. Como resultado, considero que a exposição "Momentos Inesquecíveis" convoca-nos a notar os diferentes âmbitos que instituem a Moda e sua historiografia como fenômenos sociais. A pesquisa também permitiu problematizar que os relatos pessoais nos colocam em contato com as memórias e os afetos relacionados às pessoas e coisas, contribuindo para apreendermos a ideia de que os artefatos nos constituem e são parte indispensável de nossas trajetórias de vida, como propõe Daniel Miller. Ademais, entendo que a exposição oferece a oportunidade para discutir a História da Moda, na medida em que expõe aspectos culturais, sociais, políticos, simbólicos, afetivos e estéticos criados e/ou mediados pelos artefatos no cotidiano das pessoas, ampliando esse campo teórico. Abstract: This thesis goes along the path of (re) discovering the values and meanings underlying the objects, and also how they play a role in building individuals, the collective and the memories. Its objective was to investigate the construction of different versions concerning the Brazilian History of Fashion Design by analysing the digital and online exhibition named "Momentos Inesquecíveis" (Unforgettable Moments), which was shown by the "Museu da Indumentária e da Moda - MIMo" (Museum of Garments and Fashion Design). The exhibit was created in 2012 and it is composed of underlying stories which show family portraits from the collection of Photographic Images that belongs to MIMo, along with the testimonies of those who provided the images and technical texts written by experts. My research was focused on how the exhibit was built in order to understand in which ways the daily narratives were articulated with those narratives about Fashion Design History. For the daily narratives, I considered the family portraits and the testimonies of those who provided them to MIMo. Whereas the technical texts written by experts were categorized as Fashion Design History. In order to conduct the study, I established a time frame ranging from 2012 to 2016, which resulted in the systematization of 18 underlying stories and the analysis of 3 of them. To do so, I worked with a theoretical basis comprised of the following areas: History of Design and Fashion Design; Museology; Material Culture and Visual Culture studies. In addition to that, I used interviews with the founders of MIMo to reconstruct their project and the development of the "Momentos Inesquecíveis" exhibit and I outlined a critique of the imagery and textual documents based on the principle of intertextuality. With the different analyses as a starting point, it was possible to observe the existence of interaction between the various layers of information contained within the stories. Such interactions act to either strengthen and complement the memories of the events or to make them invisible and in disagreement with the information pertaining to the narratives of Fashion Design History. As a result, I consider that the "Momentos Inesquecíveis" exhibit encourages us to notice the difference aspects that build Fashion and its history as social phenomena. Also, the research made it possible to realize that the personal accounts put us in touch with the memories and affections related to the persons and the things, contributing to the further understanding of the idea that the objects are a part of who we are and of our life stories, as explained by Daniel Miller. Furthermore, I understand that the exhibit offers us an opportunity to discuss the History of Fashion Design, as it exposes cultural, social, political, symbolic, affective and aesthetic aspects that are either created or mediated by the objects on people's daily lives, which broadens this field of study.
