Abstract: In this research the author proposes to make a historical explanation of the establishment of theological courses in Brazil among the Presbyterians, Baptists, Lutherans and Methodists. Also, he tries to show the individual and institutional efforts for the formal recognition of the theological course by Brazilian Educational authorities, starting in 1969 when the government promulgated the 1.051/69 Law, authorized by the Military Government, up to the approval of the CES/CNE 241/99 which officially recognized the Bachelor of Theology as a university degree course in Brazil. Besides giving a vision of the insertion of those religious confessions in Brazil in order to permit a good comprehension of the historical period in which those groups arrive here, will be focused their first theological institutions, their own peculiarities, the initial aims when they were founded, the theological program and the changes during the times, the profile and the difficulties of the de professors, the characteristics of the directors, and the relationship between the institution and the group who maintained it. Also, there is an analysis of the initial graduation of the teachers and the difficulties they had in order to prepare they teaching staff. In the end there will be an analysis of the individual and collective efforts to make Theology an acceptable area by the academic community. To do so, will be shown the efforts of some associations such as ASTE (Evangelical Theological Seminaries Association), ABIBET (Brazilian Association of Theological Teaching Baptist Institutions) and AETAL (Evangelical Association of Latin America Theological Education) on behalf of a protestant theological education of good quality. The research will be ended showing both the euphoria and the fear, which can be brought with that new moment in the protestant history. It is verified that since the end of the XIX century the protestant theology is present in Brazil, inserted by the confessions which were established here, and that although it had been started improvised, it was being elaborated step by step to obtain a formal authorization by the Educational Ministry in 1999.
