Resumo: Os modelos de negócio envolvendo a geração distribuída através da fonte solar fotovoltaica no mercado cativo têm se popularizado e atraído investidores de diferentes perfis e setores da economia nos últimos anos, sobretudo após as recentes regulamentações e incentivos. Este trabalho analisa a estrutura e a dinâmica de funcionamento deste mercado através de aspectos históricos, regulatórios e econômicos, buscando esclarecer as principais dúvidas que permeiam as discussões sobre este tema. O entendimento de todas as variáveis presentes na operação deste tipo de empreendimento é imprescindível para que o investidor possa mensurar seus riscos e benefícios durante o processo de tomada de decisão

Abstract: Business models involving distributed solar photovoltaic generation in the captive market have become more popular and have attracted investors from different profiles and sectors of the economy in recent years, especially following recent regulations and incentives. This paper analyzes the structure and operating dynamics of this market through historical, regulatory and economic aspects, seeking to clarify the main doubts that permeate discussions on this topic. Understanding all the variables present in the operation of this type of enterprise is essential for investors to be able to measure the risks and benefits during the decision-making process
