Topônimos da libras que designam cidades paranaenses : motivação, morfologia e variação

Abstract

Resumo: O termo topônimo é formado de duas raízes gregas „topo", significa lugar, e „onimo", significa nome. Sendo assim, topônimos são nomes de lugares. A toponímia é o ramo da onomástica que se ocupa do estudo dos topônimos, precisamente, de suas características formais e semânticas. No Brasil, a principal referência nos estudos toponímicos é Dick (1990). O presente trabalho objetiva estudar topônimos em libras referentes às cidades do estado do Paraná. Especificamente, objetivo investigar: (1) a motivação; (2) a morfologia; e (3) a variação em sinais que nomeiam nessa língua os municípios do estado paranaense. Os dados foram coletados através de entrevistas realizadas de forma presencial e remota com representantes da comunidade surda do Paraná associados (1) a associações de surdos; (2) aos centros de apoio aos surdos (CAS), e (3) a pastorais de surdos. Os resultados mostram em relação à motivação que 52% a desconhecem, contra 48% que têm alguma hipótese para ela. Entre esses últimos, predominam aqueles para os quais apenas uma motivação foi observada entre os participantes: 88%. Há, entretanto, topônimos para os quais mais de uma motivação foi coletada nas entrevistas. No que diz respeito à morfologia, 53% são nativos contra 47% híbridos, ou seja, formados através da combinação entre elementos da libras e do português. Por fim, em relação à variação, foram identificados casos de variação fonológica (37%), variação morfológica (11%) e variação lexical (49%), a mais frequente dos três tipos

Abstract: The term toponym is formed from two Greek roots: 'topo', meaning place, and 'onymo', meaning name. Therefore, toponyms are place names. Toponymy is the branch of onomastics that deals with the study of toponyms, specifically their formal and semantic characteristics. In Brazil, the main reference in toponymic studies is Dick (1990). This study aims to investigate toponyms in Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) referring to cities in the state of Paraná. Specifically, it aims to investigate: (1) the motivation; (2) the morphology; and (3) the variation in signs that name the municipalities of the state of Paraná in this language. Data were collected through interviews conducted in person and remotely with representatives of the deaf community of Paraná associated with (1) deaf associations; (2) deaf support centers (CAS); and (3) deaf pastoral communities. The results show that 52% of participants are unaware of the motivation, compared to 48% who have some idea of it. Among the latter, those for which only one motivation was observed among the participants predominate: 88%. There are, however, place names for which more than one motivation was collected in the interviews. Regarding morphology, 53% are native, compared to 47% hybrid, that is, formed through a combination of elements from Libras and Portuguese.
