A moda como fator de autenticidade artística : uma análise semiótica da personagem Jenny da série Gossip Girl

Abstract

Resumo : O presente artigo tem como objetivo investigar a relação entre moda, identidade e autenticidade artísticas, tendo como objeto de análise uma obra audiovisual televisiva de grande relevância cultural: a série Gossip Girl. A pesquisa parte da hipótese de que a moda, enquanto linguagem visual e simbólica, pode funcionar como um recurso expressivo capaz de traduzir conflitos e construções identitárias de personagens ficcionais, ao mesmo tempo em que reflete aspectos da trajetória pessoal de seus intérpretes. Nesse sentido, busca-se compreender como a aparência da personagem Jenny Humphrey, construída por meio dos figurinos e escolhas estéticas ao longo da série, espelha a noção de autenticidade presente na carreira de Taylor Momsen, atriz que a interpreta. A análise será conduzida a partir de uma metodologia semiótica, em diálogo com os conceitos de autenticidade e narrativa em produções de ficção seriada, possibilitando a identificação e interpretação dos elementos visuais que contribuem para a formação da personagem e sua recepção pelo público

Abstract : This article aims to investigate the relationship between fashion, identity, and artistic authenticity, using as its object of analysis a culturally significant television audiovisual work: the series Gossip Girl. The research begins with the hypothesis that fashion, as a visual and symbolic language, can function as an expressive resource capable of conveying the identity struggles and constructions of fictional characters, while also reflecting aspects of the personal trajectory of the actors who portray them. In this context, the study seeks to understand how the appearance of the character Jenny Humphrey—constructed through costumes and aesthetic choices throughout the series—mirrors the notion of authenticity present in the career of Taylor Momsen, the actress who plays her. The analysis will be conducted through a semiotic methodology, in dialogue with the concepts of authenticity and narrative in serialized fiction, allowing for the identification and interpretation of the visual elements that contribute to the character’s construction and her reception by the audience
