Representatividade em um coração partido? : a representação feminina em séries a partir do desenvolvimento traumático de personagens : uma análise da personagem Mare Sheehan (Mare of Easttown, HBO)

Abstract

Resumo : Este artigo objetiva compreender a representatividade feminina no audiovisual a partir do desenvolvimento de personagem. A pesquisa se volta para a reflexão sobre estereótipos ligados às mulheres na ficção seriada, atrelados principalmente aos traumas designados às personagens durante o desenvolvimento das tramas. Optou-se pela análise de uma personagem feminina, Mare Sheehan (Mare of Easttown, 2021), produção da HBO, a fim de discutir quais relações existem entre os estereótipos e os traumas dessa personagem representativa em gênero. A metodologia utilizada consiste na análise de imagem e movimento (ROSE, 2022), como roteiro, cinematografia, cenografia, maquiagem e figurino, e de profundidade de personagens (FOSTER, 2003) seguido da observação quanto à interpretação dessa. As categorias de análise são associadas ao referencial teórico, quanto ao trauma e aos estereótipos de gênero, no estudo proposto. Na conclusão do trabalho, é notória a possibilidade de constatar a representação feminina a partir do trauma, em uma exposição de camadas narrativas complexas, observando o apoio ou negação da personagem frente aos estereótipos femininos comuns em séries

Abstract : This article seeks to understand the female representation in audiovisual materials through character development. The research focuses on the deliberation of stereotypes connected to women in TV shows, especially related to trauma given to the characters during the development of the narratives. It opted for the analysis of a female character, Mare Sheehan (Mare of Easttown, 2021), an HBO production, with the end to discuss which relations exist between stereotypes and the trauma of this character representative in gender. The methodology used consists of an analysis of movement and image (ROSE, 2022), as script, cinematography, scenography, makeup and costume, and of character’s depth (FOSTER, 2003) following the interpretation of this character. The categories of analysis are associated with the theoretical reference, trauma, and gender stereotypes in this proposed study. In conclusion, this work is notable for the possibility of verifying the female representation through trauma, in an exposure of complex narrative layers, observing the support or denial of the character through common female stereotypes in TV shows.
