Abstract: This study focuses on the analysis of activities within the teaching of the German language as a foreign language in synchronous online interaction environments, within the blended online learning model. We operate on the premise that the sense of presence in a social context is crucial for the effectiveness of implementation and learning in this scenario, with interactivity considered a central component in interactions. These encounters, referred to as 'distance face-to-face,' and integrated into the blended online learning model, expand horizons for communication and learning among learners, aiming to promote language experimentation, verbalization, and knowledge construction. In this way, the aim is to investigate how interactivity and interaction occur in these encounters. To support this analysis, we draw on theoretical assumptions from Vygotsky (1979; 1991), including concepts such as mediation and the zone of proximal development, as well as Activity Theory (Leontiev, 1978; Engeström, 1987; 1997), which provides an interdisciplinary framework for investigating human interactions. The research is based on recordings made by the tutor and the learners during web-conference meetings of two beginner-level German classes over a period of fifteen weeks. The results indicate that interactivity plays a motivating role in interactions among online participants, as well as in the interaction between the learner and the content, becoming a resource that supports the execution of activities in interactive rooms. Furthermore, the guidance provided by the tutor emphasizes that her didactic-technological mediation promotes interactivity, strengthening the digital skills of learners and empowering them to manage their own learning. Ultimately, this contributes to the creation of a collaborative environment aimed at practical application of the foreign language. Considering that contradictions play a significant role in the dynamics of interactions among online participants and elements of an activity system, this field of study suggests the opportunity for future investigations.
