Estudo dos custos e receitas gerados pelo manejo florestal em diversas florestas da região amazônica

Abstract

Este trabalho teve como objetivo geral analisar os custos e geração de receitas nas atividades de manejo para exploração de madeira na Amazônia. Os dados foram obtidos a partir de trabalhos já realizados por outros autores em diferentes projetos de manejo. A região amazônica foi povoada a partir da década de 70 com o objetivo de expandir a fronteira agrícola do Brasil. Neste modelo de expansão a exploração florestal tende a causar um impacto ambiental indesejado. Para minimizá-lo e explorar economicamente as florestas da região é preciso executar planos de manejo florestal. Os projetos estudados por este trabalho foram realizados em períodos e regiões diferentes: Paragominas, Pará; Marcelândia, Mato Grosso; Manicoré, Amazonas; Juruena e Nova Bandeirante, Mato Grosso; e outras cinco flonas em Rondônia, Pará e Amazonas. Os resultados obtidos variam, tanto pelas características distintas das áreas, como pelas dificuldades inerentes a distância temporal entre os trabalhos. Com exceção dos resultados apresentados por Amaral et al (1998), o volume de madeira explorado variou de 12 a 25m³ por hectare. Os custos variaram de R$ 21,14 ao m³, no trabalho de Veiga et al (2000), a R$ 65,71 por m³, em Timofeiczyck (2004), e o preço de venda médio oscilou entre R$ 47,50 e R$ 82,00 ao m³ Pela necessidade da promoção de ações que motivem a realização do manejo florestal na Amazônia, é necessária a realização de mais estudos econômicos que englobem variáveis inerentes a todas as regiões, para que os proprietários rurais e as comunidades locais tenham informações suficientes para realizar de forma adequada e lucrativa o manejo florestal.

This assignment is intended to analyze the costs and generation of income on management activities for the timber exploration in Amazon. The data was obtained from assignments previously carried out by other authors in different handling projects. The Amazon region was settled in the seventies with the purpose of expanding the agricultural border in Brazil. In that case, forest exploration, though causing undesirable environmental shock. In order to minimize such and impact and economically explore the forest in the region, forest management plans must be carried out. The projects studied on this assignment have been carried out in different periods and regions: Paragominas, in the Brazilian state of Pará; Marcelândia, Mato Grosso; Manicoré, Amazonas; Juruena and Nova Bandeirante, Mato Grosso; and other five forests in Rondonia, Para and Amazonas. The outcome vary, both by the diffence in applied methodology and by the distinct features of the areas as well as the difficulties concerning the time distance among the assignments. Except for the outcome shown by Amaral et al (1998), the volume of timber explored varied from 15 to 25 m³ by hectare the costs ranged from R$ 21,14 in Veiga et al (2000) to R$ 65,71 by cubic meter in Timofeiczyck (2004) and the average selling price ranged between R$ 47,50 and R$ 82,00 per m³. Due to the need of taking action to motivate the forest management accomplishment in Amazon, it is necessary to carry out more economic studies which embody inherent features of all the regions, to the rural landowners and local communities have enough information to carry out forest management in a proper and profitable way.
