O docente frente ao trabalhador-aluno : a vida acadêmica e os obstáculos na formação do ensino superior noturno

Abstract

Resumo : Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar a percepção do docente quanto ao seu trabalho frente à formação acadêmica do trabalhador-aluno. Para tanto se fez necessário determinar quais são as características específicas destes alunos, analisar a evolução do ensino superior noturno no país, examinar as políticas públicas para a expansão da educação superior e, enfim, chegar ao papel do docente na educação superior noturna. A pesquisa baseou-se na revisão da literatura sobre as temáticas elencadas e em estudo de caso no curso noturno de Pedagogia da UFPR. A pesquisa empírica foi desenvolvida por meio de um questionário aplicado a 11 docentes. Os resultados dos questionários foram analisados em diálogo com os achados apresentados por estudos anteriores sobre a temática. A pesquisa mostrou a relevância do professor para a vida acadêmica dos trabalhadores alunos, no que diz respeito à compreensão de suas condições específicas de estudo e à sua capacidade de adaptação de métodos pedagógicos, condições materiais e tempos a essas circunstâncias. O professor tem ainda papel substancial no incentivo à permanência dos trabalhadores alunos na universidade.

Abstract : The goal of this study was to analyze the role of university professors in the academic education of working students. For that purpose, it was necessary to determine what are the specific characteristics of these students; to analyze the evolution of high education evening courses in the country; to examine the public policies for the expansion of high education and, finally, to study the role of professors in university evening courses. The research was based on a literature review on the aforementioned themes and on a case study carried out at the Education evening course of the Federal University of Paraná. The empirical research was developed through a survey conducted with 11 professors. The results of the survey were analyzed in dialogue with previous studies on the subject. The research showed the relevance of professors for the academic life of working students regarding their ability to understand the specific conditions of such students and their capability to adapt pedagogical approaches, material conditions and time to such circumstances. Professors have, in addition, a substantial role in stimulating the working students to keep enrolled at the university.
