O bairro (Gonçalo M. Tavares) na perspectiva da geoliteratura : espaços coordenados

Abstract

Resumo: Resguardar: (i) guardar com cuidado; (ii) proteger; (iii) colocar a salvo. Com alguns de seus profusos significados, esse é o verbo que devemos conjugar quando pensamos em O bairro, de Gonçalo M. Tavares (1970- ). (i) Guardar com muita cautela as dez obras escritas dessa série literária, mais algumas crônicas esparsas, publicadas entre 2002 e 2014, um projeto que se dedica a contar as histórias peculiares de alguns intelectuais, de forma curta, imagética e reflexiva. Há, talvez, outros adjetivos que possam ser movimentados para descrever a escrita de Tavares, mas é certo que todos os textos nos fazem pensar não só na literatura, mas também em nosso dia a dia. (ii) Proteger os seus senhores: além dos 11 dedicados às narrativas, há mais 28 habitantes nesse lugar, apresentando-nos relatos de seus cotidianos, tentando desenvolver relações entre si e com os espaços íntimos, sendo alguns desses contatos feitos de forma voluntária, outros, nem tanto. Cada um deles homenageia um intelectual consagrado no mundo literário e filosófico, mas é importante alertar que não se trata aqui de relatos biográficos, embora sintamos, sorrateiramente, a presença deles nos comportamentos, falas e gostos dos senhores. Nesse bairro, eles são apenas residentes. (iii) Colocar cada um desses senhores a salvo, em um espaço único, dos problemas do mundo externo. Seria como um lugar de resistência contra as barbáries do que vem além das fronteiras. O bairro é delineado por um mapa, uma representação gráfica que posiciona a residência de cada um dos senhores em determinada região; são todos vizinhos, como em uma cidade. Diante disso, a proposta desta pesquisa de doutorado é visitar esse bairro por um viés geoliterário. Os capítulos são dedicados a ler cada uma das obras dessa série de Tavares, com foco no espaço e suas propriedades, utilizando como ferramenta teórica conceitos norteadores da geografia humana e da filosofia, sobretudo. Para tanto, é pertinente destacar que ideias de Milton Santos, Michel de Certeau, Marc Augé, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jean-Paul Sartre e Yi-Fu Tuan são relevantes para o encaminhamento desta discussão, que percorre os rumos da interação ser humanoespaço (consideramos aqui as poliédricas possibilidades de relação que o indivíduo pode desenvolver com o lugar em que habita: sua casa, os lugares de circulação, como a rua, as paisagens, os objetos, etc.; as suas diversas relações de vizinhança; as circunstâncias do espaço geográfico, tendo temas como a globalização, a população e a política). Assim, testaremos a hipótese de que é possível ler a literatura sob o viés geográfico.

Abstract: To safeguard: (i) to guard carefully, (ii) to protect, (iii) to save. With some of its profuse meanings, this is the verb we should conjugate when we think of O bairro, by Gonçalo M. Tavares (1970 - ). (i) Carefully keeping the ten written works of this literary series, plus a few scattered chronicles, published between 2002 and 2014. A project that is dedicated to telling the peculiar stories of some intellectuals, in a short, imaginative and reflective way. There are perhaps other adjectives that can be used to describe Tavares' writing, but it is certain that all the texts make us think not only of literature, but also of our daily lives. 2) Protecting their misters: in addition to the 11 inhabitants dedicated to narratives, there are 28 more in this place, presenting us with reports of their daily lives, trying to develop relationships with each other and with intimate spaces, some of these contacts made voluntarily, others, not so much. Each of them pays homage to an intellectual renowned in the literary and philosophical world, but it is important to point out that this is not about biographical accounts, although we surreptitiously feel their presence in your behavior, speech and tastes. In this neighborhood, they are just residents. 3) Placing each of these gentlemen safe, in a unique space, from the problems of the external world. It would be like a place of resistance against the barbarities of what comes across borders. O bairro is delineated by a map, a graphic representation that positions the residence of each of the lords in a certain region; they are all neighbors as in a city. Therefore, the purpose of this doctoral work is to visit this neighborhood from a geoliterary point of view. The chapters are dedicated to reading each of the works of this series by Tavares with a focus on space and its properties, using as a theoretical tool guiding concepts of human geography and philosophy, above all. Therefore, it is pertinent to highlight that the ideas of Milton Santos, Michel de Certeau, Marc Augé, Maurice Merleau-Ponty, Jean Paul Sartre and Yi-Fu Tuan are relevant for the forwarding of this discussion, which runs along the paths of man-space interaction ( here, the polyhedral possibilities of relationships that the individual can develop with the place where he lives are considered: his house, the places of circulation, such as the street, landscapes, objects, etc.; his different neighborhood relations; the circumstances of the geographic space, with themes such as globalization, population and politics). Thus, we will test the hypothesis that O bairro guards, in its narratives, different ways of living (and understanding) the space.
