Quebradeiras de coco babaçu do Maranhão : luta, conquistas e dignidade

Abstract

Resumo : A finalidade do presente trabalho é demonstrar a importância da luta das quebradeiras de coco babaçu no Estado do Maranhão, onde através das associações, sindicatos e da união na luta pela preservação da palmeira "mãe", conseguiram a aprovação de Leis no legislativo local e estadual. Interrompendo assim o desmatamento predatório da mata nativa e garantiram desse modo, mesmo que minimamente, o sustento das suas famílias e o reconhecimento de seu trabalho. Mas não apenas isso, hoje as quebradeiras de coco Babaçu são reconhecidas nacional e internacionalmente, suas representantes viajam mundo a fora divulgando seu modo próprio de extrativismo e também recebem vários estudantes de várias partes do mundo, das mais diversas áreas de pesquisa, como antropologia e cinema.

Abstract: The purpose of this work is to demonstrate the importance of the fight of babaçu coconut breakers in the state of Maranhão, where through associations, syndicate and union in the fight for the preservation of the "mother" palm tree, they obtained the approval of Laws in the local and state legislature. In this way, they interrupted the predato ry deforestation of the native forest and thus guaranteed, even minimally, the support of their families and the recognition of their work. But not only that, today Babaçu coconut breakers are nationally and internationally recognized, their representative s travel around the world spreading their own way of extractivism and also receive several students from various parts of the world, from various areas of research such as anthropology and movie theater.
