    Abstract
Pesquisa participante.

Abstract: This dissertation has as its theme the Popular Culture and the educational practice in Early Childhood Education. The objective is to research the possibility of establishing a meaningful teaching practice that considers children's knowledge as a starting point for the valorization and consolidation of an education that favors (or narrows) the dialogue between Popular Culture and school knowledge. Therefore, it was necessary to consider the curricular limits, as well as the conception of childhood and education that can be an impediment to the realization of an emancipatory teaching practice. The methodology was the participant research that, through the formation of a study group and through questions that provoke the dialogue between the participants, had as its generating theme the educational practice and the role that Popular Culture assumes, or not, in the your plans. The subjects that formed the study groups were early childhood teachers from a public school system in the metropolitan region of Curitiba. Data were collected through a field diary, in which participants' speeches and main oral reports were recorded. The semi-structured interviews were intended to deepen the concept of Popular Culture and its importance for educational practices, established during participation in the study group. By reading the notes it was possible to realize that the teachers consider the child as a producer of Culture and that, somehow, this Culture is present in the daily school life demonstrated by orality and mainly by play; This Culture is often ignored by teachers, who occupy the daily life of children with other knowledge, considered by adults as important to the child. Keywords: Popular culture. Educational practice. Child education. Childhood. Participant research.
