O silêncio sobre o negro na construção da identidade de Curitiba : memória e esquecimento

Abstract

Resumo: Com base na Análise do Discurso (AD) francesa, na perspectiva de Pêcheux, este texto tem por objetivo analisar o silêncio sobre o negro na construção identitária de Curitiba. Para atingir tal objetivo, são discutidos, inicialmente, o discurso fundador dessa identidade, por meio dos escritos de Auguste de Saint-Hilaire (1995), Romário Martins (1995) e Wilson Martins (1989), que valorizam o imigrante europeu e a superioridade da raça branca e invisibilizam o negro/escravo. Como contraponto a esses discursos, são apresentados anúncios do jornal O Dezenove de Dezembro, do século XIX, que atestam a presença do negro/escravo na formação da cidade paranaense. Além disso, é apresentada a concepção urbanística criada para Curitiba, que materializa o discurso fundador no planejamento urbano da cidade, contribuindo para a construção dessa identidade. Como fundamentação teórica, são discutidos, na perspectiva sociológica, os conceitos de memória e esquecimento (HALBWACHS, 1990; ROSSI, 2010); e, na perspectiva da AD, os conceitos de Formação Discursiva, Formação Ideológica, Formações imaginárias, memória discursiva, rememoração/comemoração (VENTURINI, 2009), lugares de memória (NORA, 1993) e silêncio (ORLANDI, 1997). Por meio da análise dos discursos fundadores paranaenses, dos anúncios dos jornais O Dezenove de Dezembro, dos lugares de memória (urbanismo e slogans) foi possível verificar como a construção da identidade curitibana apaga o negro de sua história, silenciando-o e criando o efeito de sua inexistência. Abstract: Based on the French Discourse Analysis, in the perspective of Pêcheux, this textaims to analyze the silence about the black people with regard to the identitaryconstruction of the city of Curitiba. In order to achieve this goal, primarily, thefounding discourse of this identity are discussed, through the writings of AugusteSaintHilaire(1995), Romario Martins (1995) and Wilson Martins (1989), whomvalued the European immigrants and the white race superiority, in additon to makingthe black and the slave invisible. As a counterpoint to these speeches, news ads arepresented on a newspaper from the nineteenth century, called O Dezenove deDezembro, that attest to the presence of black/slave in the formation of the city. Inaddition, the urban design created for Curitiba, that materialized the foundingdiscourse in the urban planning of the city, contributing to the construction of thisidentity, is presented. As a theoretical foundation, are discussed, in a sociologicalperspective, memory and forgetfulness concepts (HALBWACHS, 1990; ROSSI,2010); and from the perspective of Discourse Analysis, the concepts of DiscursiveFormation, Ideological Formation, discursive memory, rememoration/commemoration(VENTURINI, 2009), Realms of Memory (NORA, 1993) and silence (ORLANDI,1997). Through the Paraná founders discourse analysis, of the ads published in thenewspaper O Dezenove de Dezembro and from the realms of memory (urban andslogans), it was possible to ascertain how the construction of Curitiba identity erasesthe black in its history, silencing it and creating the effect of their nonexistence.Key words: Discourse Analysis.
