O domínio dos acadêmicos de letras a análise linguística em gêneros textuais

Abstract

Resumo: A análise linguística depende da autonomia do analista para levantar hipóteses sobre a linguagem e relacioná-las com conhecimentos especializados sobre a língua. Essa atividade perpassa um conjunto de categorizações sobre o nível gramatical e o textual-discursivo, pois envolve as práticas sociais com a linguagem, o que remete aos gêneros textuais. Por essa caracterização, a concepção de análise linguística está relacionada aos desenvolvimentos dos estudos textuais e é um dos temas enfatizados nas propostas de ensino de Língua Portuguesa. Pensando nessas relações, neste trabalho buscamos fazer um diagnóstico a respeito do domínio dos acadêmicos de Letras sobre a análise linguística de gêneros textuais. Para verificar as diferenças desse domínio no início e no fim da graduação, aplicamos um questionário, com dez perguntas discursivas, solicitando a análise linguística de gêneros textuais diversos, aos acadêmicos do período inicial e final da graduação em Letras de cinco universidades públicas localizadas no Paraná. Para a elaboração das questões e a definição dos critérios de análise das respostas, partimos da noção de sequência textual, conforme Adam (2001 e 2011). Esse autor evidencia a organização hierárquica dos textos e a existência de cinco protótipos sequenciais de base (descritivo, narrativo, explicativo, argumentativo e dialogal), os quais apresentam regularidades estruturais e são constituídos pela atividade cognitiva espontânea dos sujeitos ao fazer categorizações sobre a linguagem. Isso nos levou a buscar as definições da Semântica Cognitiva sobre os sistemas cognitivos estruturadores da linguagem, de acordo com a abordagem de Talmy (2001). Ao associar a atuação desses sistemas às marcas linguísticas constitutivas dos protótipos sequenciais, pudemos oferecer pontos de partida para a análise linguística de textos de gêneros diversos. Com base nesses pontos, ao analisar as respostas dos alunos, percebemos a atuação desses processos cognitivos estruturadores da linguagem em ambos os períodos de graduação pesquisados. No entanto, o domínio da análise linguística, de modo geral, considerando a exploração de conhecimentos especializados, não foi satisfatório, embora os acadêmicos do período final tenham demonstrado maior precisão que os do período inicial no uso da metalinguagem e na identificação das marcas linguísticas e das relações textual-discursivas. Abstract: The linguistic analysis depends on the analyst autonomy to raise hypotheses on language in use and relate them to systematized knowledges about the language. This activity runs through a set of categorizations about the grammatical level and the discursive-textual, because it involves the social practices with language, which refers to the textual genres. By this characterization, the conception of linguistic analysis is related to the developments of textual studies and it is one of the themes emphasized in the teaching proposals of Portuguese Language. Considering these relationships, in this dissertation we aimed to make a diagnosis concerning the mastery of the scholars of Letters on the linguistic analysis of textual genres. To check the differences of this understanding at the beginning and at the end of the undergraduate course we applied a questionnaire, consisted of ten essay questions, requesting the linguistic analysis of various textual genres to the undergraduate scholars of the initial and final period of the undergraduate program in Letters from five public universities of Paraná. For the questions formulation and definition of the analysis criteria of the responses, we started from the notion of textual sequence as stated by Adam (2001 and 2011). This author emphasizes the hierarchical organization of the texts and the existence of five basic sequential prototypes (descriptive, narrative, explanatory, argumentative and dialogical), which present structural regularities and are composed by spontaneous cognitive activity of the subjects when creating categorizations about language. This led us to seek the definitions of Cognitive Semantic on the structuring cognitive systems of language, according to Talmy's approach (2001). By associating the performance of these systems to the linguistics constitutive traits of the sequential prototypes, we could offer starting points for the linguistic analysis of texts of various genres. Based on these points, after analyzing the students' responses, we noticed the performance of these structuring cognitive processes of language in both undergraduate periods that were researched. However, the understanding of linguistic analysis, in general, considering the exploitation of expertise knowledges, was not satisfactory, although the scholars of the final period have demonstrated greater accuracy than the ones from the initial period in the use of meta-language and identifying linguistics traits and discursive-textual relationships.
