This thesis investigates the place of epistemology in the History Teaching Method through a reconstructivist inventory of Brazilian curricular reforms implemented between 1931 and 2017. The documentary corpus comprises the Francisco Campos Reform of 1931, the Capanema Reform of 1942, Law No. 5,692 of 1971, the National Curriculum Parameters for History (1997–1998), and the National Common Curricular Base (2017). The study addresses the problem of understanding the extent to which the epistemological foundations of historical science were translated, transformed, or reconfigured within the documents that regulate the teaching of History in schools. It is based on the hypothesis that the History Teaching Method achieves greater formative density when it maintains a relationship of structural homology with historiographical rationality. Methodologically, the research combines documentary analysis, an archaeological perspective inspired by Foucault, and a reconstructivist inventory grounded in History Didactics, treating curricular documents as historical expressions of disputes concerning the status of historical knowledge in school education. The analysis reveals continuities and shifts in the ways the categories of document or historical source, temporality, and narrative have been incorporated into the curriculum, demonstrating oscillations between rationalities predominantly exogenous to historical science and movements toward categories derived from the epistemology of History. The findings indicate that the curricular reforms analyzed express different discursive configurations of the History Teaching Method, marked by distinct forms of appropriation, subordination, or rearticulation of fundamental historical categories. Based on this evidence, the thesis argues that the History Teaching Method cannot be reduced to teaching techniques or pedagogical strategies; rather, it constitutes an epistemological category in its own right, whose intelligibility depends on the articulation between the conception of method, its epistemological nature, and its structuring elements. It is concluded that the relationship between historical epistemology and History teaching is historically unstable and contested, and that the structural homology between historiographical method and the History Teaching Method provides a theoretical principle capable of explaining this relationship and grounding the reconceptualization of the method from a three-dimensional perspective
