Além dos cromossomos : um livro reportagem de retratos de famílias com síndrome de Down

Abstract

Resumo: Este Trabalho de Conclusão de Curso em Jornalismo apresenta o desenvolvimento teórico-metodológico e o relato de produção do livro-reportagem Além dos Cromossomos: Retratos de Famílias com Síndrome de Down. O produto adotou uma abordagem aprofundada e humanizada sobre as vivências de pessoas com Síndrome de Down e seus núcleos familiares, fundamentada nos princípios do jornalismo literário, investigativo e científico, articulados com conceitos de escuta ativa, cidadania comunicativa e anticapacitismo. A primeira etapa do trabalho contemplou a construção de uma base teórica, reunindo revisão bibliográfica e documental sobre os aspectos biológicos, clínicos, sociais e legais da Síndrome, além da fundamentação sobre jornalismo literário, científico e de saúde, evidenciando suas potencialidades para a reconstrução de realidades invisibilizadas. Em seguida, o projeto foi desenvolvido em campo, com a realização de entrevistas em profundidade com familiares e pessoas com Síndrome de Down, observação participante e análise de conteúdos digitais, que deram origem aos capítulos narrativos do livro-reportagem. A metodologia, de caráter qualitativo, exploratório e documental, foi guiada por princípios éticos de consentimento, respeito à linguagem inclusiva e validação das narrativas junto às fontes. Assim, o trabalho oferece fundamentação teórica e relato de experiência para uma prática jornalística sensível, comprometida com a inclusão, a cidadania comunicativa e a transformação social por meio do jornalismo

Abstract: This Course Conclusion Paper (TCC) in Journalism presents the theoreticalmethodological development and the production report of the long-form non-fiction book Beyond Chromosomes: Portraits of Families with Down Syndrome. The product adopted an in-depth and humanized approach to the experiences of people with Down Syndrome and their family units, grounded in the principles of literary, investigative, and scientific journalism, articulated with concepts of active listening, communicative citizenship, and antiableism. The first stage of the work involved the construction of a theoretical foundation, gathering bibliographic and documentary review on the biological, clinical, social, and legal aspects of the Syndrome, in addition to the fundamentals of literary, scientific, and health journalism, highlighting their potential for the reconstruction of invisibilized realities. Subsequently, the project was developed in the field, with in-depth interviews with family members and people with Down Syndrome, participant observation, and analysis of digital content, which gave rise to the narrative chapters of the non-fiction book.The qualitative, exploratory, and documentary methodology was guided by ethical principles of consent, respect for inclusive language, and validation of the narratives with the sources. Thus, the work offers a theoretical basis and an experience report for a sensitive journalistic practice, committed to inclusion, communicative citizenship, and social transformation through journalism
