    Abstract

Abstract: Philanthropic and pediatric hospitals have high energy demands and rely on a continuous, secure, and cost-controlled power supply, while simultaneously facing financial constraints and striving to adopt sustainable practices. In this context, the deregulated (or free) energy market emerges as a viable alternative to the regulated model, offering cost savings, flexibility in supplier choice, and access to renewable energy sources. For pediatric hospitals, this transition can generate both economic and environmental benefits, potentially redirecting more resources toward patient care. However, the migration process requires strategic planning, technical expertise, and specialized management, which may pose significant challenges for these institutions. Therefore, this project aims to assess the challenges and opportunities encountered by a philanthropic and exclusively pediatric hospital when entering the free energy market, considering sustainability gains and the economic feasibility of the transition
