The informational cards provide summaries of various aspects of poultry farming, including interesting facts about eggs. Developed by students from the Federal University of Paraná, in the Animal Science course for the subject Introduction to the Anatomy of Domestic Animals (BA065), which is linked to the Extension Project “Knowing, respecting and producing poultry: didactic and alternative models in the teaching-learning process”. The work, in a clear and didactic way, describes the following information answering the subsequent questions: (1) Eggs with Omega 3 - How are these eggs produced in the poultry industry?; (2) Air Cell - How does the air cell form inside the egg?; (3) How can we tell if an egg is old?; (4) The “white thread” of the yolk - What is its anatomical name? Is it edible?; (5) Colored Eggs - How do different colors exist? Is there any nutritional difference in colored eggs? Which breeds of chickens lay them?; (6) Environmental Enrichment – What is its purpose? What can be used to stimulate it? (7) Newcastle disease – What is the mortality rate? How to prevent it? (8) Hormones in chickens? Are they prohibited? Why is their use unfeasible? (9) Evolution of chicken diets – What is the progress? What is the importance? Through practical summaries, the work developed by the students provides information in simple language and easy to understand for the community, whether internal or external to the academic environment, thus achieving the objective of the extension project.
