This learning object is a compilation of various informational cards about domestic chicken (Gallus gallus) production, specifically about meat and egg production. All the work was developed by students of the Introduction to Animal Anatomy (BA065) course in the Animal Science program at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR), linked to the extension project "Knowing, respecting and producing poultry: didactic and alternative models in the teaching-learning process". These informational cards were presented at the following extension events: Universo UFPR and training workshops on poultry management and production. In an illustrative and creative way, the cards address the following topics: (a) The evolution of poultry production over the years and the reasons for this great development; (b) Overview of national production in Brazil and exports; (c) Use of hormones in broiler chickens and the technical reasons for the unfeasibility of their use; (d) Nutritional value of eggs; (e) The reason for the difference in shell pigmentation; (f) Interesting facts about breeding related to genetic lineage and high biosecurity for breeding.
