Abstract

To achieve exemplary animal production, it's essential to understand the basics of reproduction and chick care. This is the objective of this informational brochure, which provides a simple and educational overview of cockatiel management. Aspects such as feeding, temperature, environment, and hygiene during the first weeks of a bird's life are covered. Furthermore, the material describes the necessary care if the parents reject the chick, a rare but possible situation. This learning object was developed as part of the extension project "Knowing, Respecting, and Breeding Birds: Didactic and Alternative Models in the Teaching-Learning Process," linked to the Introduction to Domestic Animal Anatomy course offered in the Animal Science program at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR).
