This brochure was created by students of the Animal Science Program at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR) as part of the Introduction to Domestic Animal Anatomy course, linked to the extension project "Knowing, Respecting, and Breeding Birds: Alternative Teaching Models in the Teaching-Learning Process." The objective of this project was to produce teaching materials on the axial skeleton of cockatiels (psittacines), describing the main adaptations of the axial skeleton for flight, as well as the anatomical components, synostoses (bony fusions) of the spine, and the shape of the sternum and ribs. Morphometrically, it describes the topographic distribution of the vertebrae in the cervical, thoracic, lumbosacral, and caudal regions and discusses some particularities of the skull and atlanto-occipital joint.
