Descrição e domesticação das calopsitas

Abstract

The current learning objective is a brief description of the domestication process of cockatiels in Brazil. This teaching material is extension-oriented and was developed by students of the Animal Science Program, Introduction to the Anatomy of Domestic Animals, at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). This material is part of the extension project "Knowing, Respecting, and Breeding Birds: Didactic and Alternative Models in the Teaching-Learning Process." The objective of this work was to compile knowledge about the taxonomy, the introduction of this bird in Brazil, and its current legislation regarding amateur and professional breeding. Furthermore, the brochure covers interesting facts about the vocalization, mistreatment, and basic care of these psittacines.
