A autoestima de crianças negras e sua relação com a escola/educação : indagações a partir das reflexões de um pedagogo negro

Abstract

Resumo : A autoestima é fator importante na constituição da identidade, que é elemento fundamental na construção da autoestima negra. O racismo danifica a autoestima da raça negra, a nível social e individual, de forma a se somarem e se materializarem em danos (em grande medida) irreversíveis às crianças, jovens e adultos. Considerando o racismo, trabalhar a importância da reflexão acerca da autoestima da raça negra – com ou sem senso de pertencimento – e suas relações com a educação, contribui com uma abordagem dialógica e libertária de letramento racial para todos os atores sociais envolvidos e atendidos na educação formal. Proponho conduzir a discussão, dialogando com uma perspectiva de narrativa (auto)biográfica e trazendo recortes intencionalmente dialógicos que suportam o tema na perspectiva de embasar sua importância e desenvolvimento em recortes temporais, geográficos e contextuais. Este cenário aproxima e traz à luz argumentos e diálogos para contribuir de forma positiva com um dos vieses sob os quais o racismo e a educação se interseccionam: a autoestima. No contexto pedagógico, há ganhos que destaco: o letramento racial, a proteção à criança, o combate ao racismo e a construção de identidades e relações, pelas vias da educação formal em todos os níveis. De forma estrutural, o que é trabalhado na educação formal tende a ter grande impacto, a longo e médio prazo, na construção de uma sociedade antirracista. A criança de ontem é o adulto de hoje.

Abstract : Our self-esteem is an important factor within identity constitution, which is a fundamental element in the construction of black self-esteem. Racism hurts black people’s self-esteem, on a social and individual level, in ways that add up and materialize into (mostly) irreversible damage to the children, the young, the adults and the elderly. Considering racism, working on the importance of reflecting upon the black self-esteem – with or without the sense of belonging – and their relations with education contributes to a dialogic and libertarian approach to racial literacy for all involved and attended social actors in formal education. I propose conducting a discussion, dialoguing with an (auto)biographic narrative perspective and bringing intentionally dialogical frames that support the theme, in the perspective of substantiating its importance and development in timewise, geographical and contextual frames. This scenario approximates and sheds light on arguments and dialogues meant to contribute in a positive manner to one of the perspectives where racism crosses with education: self-esteem. In the pedagogical context, there are certain gains which I highlight: racial literacy, child protection, the fight against racism and the construction of identities and relations, through formal education in all levels.
