(In) justiça ambiental : uma reflexão ecossocial sobre o Gasoduto de Manati e o povoado de Ilha d’ajuda - Jaguaripe-BA

Abstract

Resumo: Justiça ambiental emerge como tema recente no Brasil. É sabido que o sistema produtivo gere injustiças diversas, mas, frequentemente são as injustiças ambientais as que mais punem a população pobre. O povoado da Ilha d’Ajuda/Jaguaripe-BA foi o local escolhido neste trabalho de reflexão sobre (In)justiça ambiental, por abrigar parte importante do gasoduto proveniente do Campo de Gás natural de Manati, um dos maiores produtores do nordeste. Apesar de ser considerada energia de grande apelo ecológico, é importante reconhecer os impactos que a exploração deste recurso provoca ao meio ambiente e a população, mesmo diante do crescimento econômico e progresso que possam proporcionar. Algumas perguntas devem ser feitas, como quem se beneficia desse progresso? Como vive a comunidade com este advento tecnológico? Qual a responsabilidade social praticada pela empresa no local? Este trabalho tem por objetivo geral resenhar sobre a justiça ambiental e as interferências promovidas pelas atividades petrolíferas ao meio ambiente, além de refletir a respeito da percepção de um grupo de moradores do Povoado da Ilha d’Ajuda em relação às injustiças ambientais oriundas a partir da instalação do Gasoduto de Manati. As metodologias principais adotadas foram visita de campo, entrevista estruturada, e pesquisas documentais. Como principais resultados encontrados foram injustiças ambientais, devido à supressão vegetal, perturbação marítima, estrada precária de acesso ao povoado e falta de politicas ambientais e sociais para assistir os moradores. Concluindo que o sentimento de indiferença e descredito dos moradores ao gasoduto Manati, podem ser a fonte de conflitos e injustiças

Abstract: Environmental justice emerges as a recent theme in Brazil. It is well known that the productive system generates diverse injustices, but it is often the environmental injustices that most punish the poor. The village of Ilha d'Ajuda / Jaguaripe-BA was the place chosen in this work of reflection on (In) environmental justice, because it houses an important part of the gas pipeline coming from Manati Natural Gas Field, one of the largest producers in the northeast. Despite being considered energy of great ecological appeal, it is important to recognize the impacts that the exploitation of this resource has on the environment and the population, even in the face of the economic growth and progress they may bring. Some questions should be asked, such as who benefits from this progress? How does the community live with this technological advent? What is the social responsibility practiced by the company on site? This paper aims to review the environmental justice and the interference promoted by oil activities on the environment, and reflect on the perception of a group of inhabitants of Ilha d'Ajuda Village in relation to environmental injustices arising from the installation of the Manati Gas Pipeline.The main methodologies adopted were field visit, structured interview, and documentary research. The main results found were environmental injustices due to vegetation suppression, maritime disturbance, poor access road to the village and lack of environmental and social policies to assist residents. Concluding that the residents' feeling of indifference and discredit to the Manati pipeline may be the source of conflict and injustice
