The Scientific Initiation project “Translational theory and practice at the service of the 2030 Agenda for the Sustainable Development” aims to offer opportunities for academic development through research applied to the field of Translation to undergraduate students who have knowledge of the English language. In addition to scientific research focused on Translation, students will have the opportunity to help translate documents within the scope of the United Nations' voluntary action, under the Sustainable Development Goals agenda. In this sense, this project also aims to enable the discovery of a new field for students: the translation activity, which is present not only in business environments, but also in literary and technical fields, among others. Thus, in addition to offering practical training through exposing students to the translation exercise, thus increasing their prior knowledge, this project also aims to present a market niche that often goes unnoticed by students who already have command of the English language, but who never considered the possibility of using this ability in other ways. We live in times when spatial distance and temporal distance are shrinking and borders are disappearing, with the impressive development of communication technologies. Thus, mastering foreign languages is a crucial element in this process and can take our students to higher levels, without, however, forgetting the extreme importance that voluntary action currently assumes.
