Abstract: Supply chain ruptures are events that require a competent reaction from companies toward mitigating their impacts and continuous prevention work focused on resilience and consequent value protection for the shareholder. Through the event study method, this work contributes to the theme by analyzing the effects of these ruptures on the stock prices of different economic sectors of the Brazilian stock exchange, B3, in order to detect the presence of significant abnormal returns. The events analyzed were the truckers' strike in July 2012, July 2013, February 2015 and May 2018. The results indicate that the sectors reacted differently in each of the strikes. In analyzing the accumulated result of the four events, the presence of a negative and significant abnormal return at 10% level in the window that represents the six days accumulated before the events (-6, 0), which points out that the market anticipated the reaction to strikes. In the specific analysis of each event, it was observed that the market reacted statistically significantly only in the strikes of July 2013 and May 2018. When analyzing the variance, it was observed that the values obtained in the event windows are statistically larger than the values obtained in the estimation windows for the 2013 and 2018 strikes, which also points out that these two strikes were the most impactful among the four analyzed. In analyzing the profit of the companies selected for this work in the quarters of strikes, an average reduction of 16.48% compared to the same quarter of the year before the events was observed, which also highlights the negative impact that these events exert on those companies.
