Abstract: Human activities cause various disturbances in the environment, and this has the potential to cause impacts to the environment. In recent decades environmental concern has been on the agenda for several scenarios, and construction has been incorporated into the concept of sustainable constructions, with the aim of creating healthier environments that simultaneously have better efficiency in the management of natural resources. In this sense, green spaces have gained space, especially in urban environments, these places have the ability to improve the quality of human life. This research aims to verify one of the requirements for the construction of green roofs in construction, verifying whether the choice of vegetation is carried out in a judicious manner. The methodology used had an exploratory approach, performed through a systematic bibliographic review adapted. The guiding question for the work was: "Which plant species are most suitable for green roof projects according to the biome and/or climate of the region to be installed?". The results were systematized to their quantitative aspects, the climatic conditions in the projection of green roofs and possible limitations in the choice of vegetation. Thus, it was noted that the climatic conditions are not deepened when correlating climate adaptation conditions versus vegetation, the approaches in general are macroclimatic. The correlation of the biomes to the detriment of the chosen vegetation was not found in any work, so it was noted that the implementation of the green roofs has a gap regarding the deepening of the chosen vegetation to the detriment of the locality that deals with its climate.
