A participação dos católicos carismáticos na política brasileira

Abstract

Resumo : O objetivo deste trabalho é analisar o comportamento político-partidário dos políticos vinculados a Renovação Carismática Católica (RCC). A escolha dos políticos com essa filiação religiosa deu-se em razão do número expressivo de adeptos, contando com apoio da Igreja Católica e visibilidade de seus eventos em nível nacional. O estudo visa frisar quais os motivos que levaram os carismáticos católicos a adentrarem a arena política. A pesquisa foi construída sobre o conceito de que a Igreja Católica estava gradativamente perdendo fiéis para outras denominações religiosas, e que a RCC trouxe uma sobrevida para o Catolicismo, inspirando a participação mais ativa dos fiéis leigos na Igreja. Os bispos e padres percebendo que os eventos carismáticos arrebanhavam multidões, optaram por estimular a participação dos católicos na política, com o objetivo de defender os princípios cristãos.

Abstract : The aim of this paper is to analyze the political party behavior of politicians linked to the Catholic Charismatic Renewal (RCC). The choice of politicians with this religious affiliation was due to the large number of supporters, with the support of the Catholic Church and visibility of its events at national level. The study aims to highlight the reasons that led the charismatic Catholics to enter the political arena. The research was built on the concept that the Catholic Church was gradually losing believers to other religious denominations, and that the RCC brought a survival for Catholicism, inspiring the more active participation of the lay faithful in the Church. The bishops and priests, realizing that the events of the Charismatic were gathering crowds, chose to encourage the participation of Catholics in politics in order to defend Christian principles.
