Microbiologia 2. Abstract: According to researches, public education in Brazil has been widely debated from the perspective of its quality offered by our schools, especially in the case of students finishing high school, with low performance in external evaluations, having difficulty following their grade as well as continuing their studies. This inference enabled the elaboration of the project that culminated in this qualitative research, applied through the analysis of the comparative development between the typical classic teaching, said traditional, based on content and supported by expositive classes in which the textbook is the basic resource of information, in contrast to the active methodology listed in the concept of problem-based learning. The research was applied in two classes of 4 year (evening shift) of Business Administration of the Highschool integrated to professional education, from Deputado Arnaldo Faivro Busato State School, located in Pinhais, in the metropolitan region of Curitiba, Paraná. The objective was met with the following results: student collaboration in the development of investigative didactic sequence involving Trifolium repens (white clover) cultivated and the bacteria from the root nodules; from those organism was explored the learning of microbiological and Botanic concepts related to Ecology and atmospheric nitrogen fixation; through the Active Methodology were prepared slides of histological sections of nodules present in the roots of the white clover and prepared exsiccates of the plant for the deposit in the school herbarium collection. Based on the active methodology students could experience effectively in the experimentation and production of knowledge, collaboratively with the gradual appropriation and consequently the comparative evaluation confirming that the active methodology produced a better learning performance. The analyzes were established by comparing data, obtained from pre-test and post-test questionnaires, between the application of two dichotomous didactic sequences, submitted to statistical treatment by Bernoulli, Student t-test and ANOVA, confirmed by the mass probability that the Active Methodology class presented a bigger binomial distribution around the average grade in the post-test. In the Student t-test, assuming equal variances, showed p-value of 0.01 - comparing the average of the post-tests, it could be attributed that the difference existed in favor of the teaching investigative sequence produced collaboratively with students. Through ANOVA, the p-value obtained of 0.02, also less than 0.05 attributed in significance, when comparing the averages of the two classes in the post-test, confirmed the significance of the Active Methodology. Finally, in a simple analysis between the final averages, it was possible to obtain that the Active Methodology class presented a 14% higher performance in the grade, where the knowledge actively constructed promoted the didactic transposition of scientific knowledge into basic education. Thus, the investigative didactic sequence generated as a product became available as a promotion to the teaching of Biology. KEYWORDS: Active methodologies 1. Microbiology 2. Nitrogen fixation 3.
