A figura da morte no cinema brasileiro : um estudo sobre O Vigilante (1992) e Alma corsária (1993)

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação é um estudo sobre a figura da morte nos filmes O Vigilante (1992) de Ozualdo Candeias e Alma Corsária (1993) de Carlos Reichenbach. Para a análise dos filmes, será desenvolvida a noção de figura e sua relação com o Juízo Final, partindo de autores como Walter Benjamin e Erich Auerbach, para delimitar em cada filme a revelação de sua aparição na imagem cinematográfica, e aqui a mobilização de autores como George Didi- Huberman e outros que trabalham a imagem em sua potência do sensível. Em O Vigilante, a morte é evocada pela atmosfera sádica da favela comandada pela gangue de Lobão, acarretando aos mortos, o corpo exposto em sua bizarrice. A violência que liga essas mortes é trincheira ao derradeiro destino do boia-fria que se vê aos tiros com crianças que declamam o assalto ao ônibus que o levaria de volta para o campo. Em Alma Corsária, a morte é uma bela mulher que aparece na vida do poeta Torres. Ela é de outra ordem dos acontecimentos do filme, apenas Torres a vislumbra em sua performática presença. Depois do lançamento do livro de poesia, ela o leva para a margem do rio. Resta o contraponto entre a imagem de uma arma apontada para a câmera, e o melhor amigo evocando evohé na outra margem: ambos quebrando a transparência da imagem para almejar ao gesto, a sua virtude utópica, condizente à postura de cineastas do berço marginal e que em pleno inicio dos anos 90, se deparam com o colapso do cinema brasileiro. Abstract: This thesis is a study on the death figure in the films O Vigilante (1992) by Ozualdo Candeias and Alma Corsária (1993) by Carlos Reichenbach. For the film analyses, the notion of figure and its relationship to the Last Judgment will be developed, starting with authors like Walter Benjamin and Erich Auerbach, to delimit in each film the revelation of its exposure in the cinematographic image, and herein the mobilization of authors like George Didi- Huberman and others who work the image in its sensory potency. In O Vigilante, death is evoked by the sadistic atmosphere of the slum in command of Lobão's gang, bringing the dead to the body exposed in its bizarreness. The violence that bonds these deaths is a trench to the yokel's final destination in a shooting with children who assault the bus that would take him back to the country. In Alma Corsária, death is a beautiful woman who appears in the life of the poet Torres. She is on a different order from the events of the film, only Torres has a glimpse of her performative presence. After the release of the poetry book, she takes him to the riverbank. What stays is the counterpoint between the image of a gun aimed at the camera and the best friend evoking evohé on the other margin: both break the transparency of the image aiming for the gesture, for its utopian virtue, consistent with the posture of filmmakers from the marginal cradle who in the beginning of the 90's are facing the collapse of Brazilian cinema.
