A bicicleta como meio de transporte urbano : diagnóstico da situação viária da cidade de Curitiba - PR

Abstract

Resumo: A inserção da bicicleta como meio de transporte é uma necessidade das grandes cidades brasileiras.Devido à generalização dos veículos automotores no País, pouco se pensou em compatibilzar aestrutura de tráfego com as questões ambientais. Atualmente o trânsito e a poluição estão em umnível caótico e a bicicleta surge como uma referência à mobilidade urbana, à saúde e ao bem estarsocial coletivo. Este trabalho realizou um levantamento histórico da bicicleta, sua chegada ao Brasil,um debate sobre a mobilidade urbana, um estudo sobre a estrutura (ciclo)viária de Curitiba e umaanálise de alguns trechos de vias prioritárias para o uso ciclístico.

Abstract: The use of bicycles as means of transportation is a necessity in large Brazilian cities. Due to theemphasis on motor vehicles in the country, little has been done to create an infrastructure that iscompatible with the current environmental issues society faces. Currently, traffic jams and pollution areat a chaotic level, and bicycles emerge as a point of reference to urban mobility, health and thecollective well-being. This project completed a full historical analysis of the creation of the first bicycleand its arrival in Brazil. Furthermore, a debate on urban mobility and a study of the transportationinfrastructure in Curitiba, Parana-Brazil, were conducted. Lastly, an analysis of the areas in Curitibathat already include bicycle lanes as part of that infrastructure was completed.
