Nashi Lhudê e a ucraneidade : em torno das tradições das Kolomeikas e do Korovai (Irati e Ivaí, 1935-2023)

Abstract

Resumo: Esta tese teve como objetivo compreender dois elementos culturais presentes nas festas de casamento de descendentes de ucranianos nos municípios de Ivaí e Irati, no Paraná: as kolomeikas e o korovai, no período de 1935 a 2023. O foco principal do estudo foi entender os significados atribuídos a essas práticas por aqueles que as realizam, bem como sua relação com a identidade cultural – ou ainda, com a ucraneidade – dos participantes. O recorte temporal justifica-se pela utilização de fontes orais: ao todo, foram entrevistadas 36 pessoas, organizadas em quatro gerações, com o intuito de analisar as continuidades e transformações dessas tradições ao longo do tempo. A História Oral constituiu a principal metodologia empregada, essencial para atingir os objetivos da pesquisa, embora também tenham sido utilizadas outras fontes, como periódicos, relatórios oficiais e fotografias. Dessa forma, temas como cultura, identidade e memória estão no centro da análise, orientados pelas contribuições teóricas de autores como Joel Candau, Alessandro Portelli, Michael Pollak, Fredrik Barth, Denys Cuche, Karl Mannheim e Stuart Hall

Abstract: This thesis aimed to understand two cultural elements present in the wedding celebrations of people of Ukrainian descent in the municipalities of Ivaí and Irati, Paraná: kolomeikas and korovai, from 1935 to 2023. The main focus of the study was to understand the meanings attributed to these practices by those who perform them, as well as their relationship to the cultural identity – or even the Ukrainianness – of the participants. The time frame is justified by the use of oral sources: a total of 36 people were interviewed, organized into four generations, to analyze the continuities and transformations of these traditions over time. Oral history was the main methodology used, essential to achieving the research objectives, although other sources, such as periodicals, official reports, and photographs, were also used. Thus, themes such as culture, identity, and memory are at the center of the analysis, guided by the theoretical contributions of authors such as Joel Candau, Alessandro Portelli, Michael Pollak, Fredrik Barth, Denys Cuche, Karl Mannheim, and Stuart Hall
