Narrativas e perspectivas : conversações entre mulheres sobre descriminalização do aborto no Brasil

Abstract

Resumo: A descriminalização do aborto é um tema recorrente no debate público e ganhou destaque com a retomada da Arguição de Descumprimento de Preceito Fundamental (ADPF) 442 no Supremo Tribunal Federal no final de 2023, intensificada pelo voto favorável da ministra Rosa Weber às vésperas de sua aposentadoria. Diante desse cenário, esta pesquisa investiga de que forma as narrativas moldam as discussões sobre a (des)criminalização do aborto. Para isso, tem como objetivo geral analisar a influência das narrativas nas discussões sobre o tema entre mulheres, por meio da realização de grupos focais. Os objetivos específicos incluem: (i) examinar o papel das narrativas como catalisadoras para reflexão; (ii) mapear os apelos argumentativos empregados pelas participantes; (iii) identificar a presença de desinformação nas justificativas das opiniões, especialmente no que concerne ao aborto medicamentoso; e (iv) verificar a presença e a articulação dos conceitos de reconhecimento, redistribuição e representação, com base na Teoria da Justiça Tridimensional de Nancy Fraser. A hipótese formulada (H1) sugere que, ao se depararem com narrativas pessoais sobre o aborto, as participantes podem compartilhar suas próprias histórias, contribuindo para um entendimento mais amplo e coletivo do tema. Os resultados indicam uma centralidade da dimensão do reconhecimento nas discussões, além de uma forte presença de argumentos pautados na moralidade. Ademais, observou-se que as narrativas exerceram papel central, tanto na reflexão das histórias apresentadas quanto na relação estabelecida com as experiências individuais das participantes, que, entre as principais justificativas, traziam a questão do acolhimento, planejamento familiar e educação sexual

Abstract: The decriminalization of abortion is a recurring topic in public debate and gained prominence with the resumption of the Argument of Noncompliance with a Fundamental Precept (ADPF) 442 in the Supreme Federal Court at the end of 2023, intensified by Minister Rosa Weber’s favorable vote on the eve of her retirement. Given this context, this research investigates how narratives shape discussions on the (de)criminalization of abortion. To this end, its general objective is to analyze the influence of narratives in discussions on the topic among women through focus groups. The specific objectives include: (i) examining the role of narratives as catalysts for reflection; (ii) mapping the argumentative appeals employed by participants; (iii) identifying the presence of misinformation in the justification of opinions, especially regarding medication abortion; and (iv) verifying the presence and articulation of the concepts of recognition, redistribution, and representation, based on Nancy Fraser’s Three-Dimensional Theory of Justice. The formulated hypothesis (H1) suggests that, when faced with personal narratives about abortion, participants may share their own stories, contributing to a broader and more collective understanding of the issue. The results indicate the centrality of the recognition dimension in discussions, along with a strong presence of morality-based arguments. Furthermore, narratives played a key role both in reflecting on the presented stories and in the relationship established with participants' individual experiences, which, among the main justifications, highlighted issues of support, family planning, and sexual education
