Sábia, destemida e bela : o impacto do trauma na construção da guerreira Galadriel em O senhor dos anéis - Os anéis de poder

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação analisa a construção narrativa da personagem Galadriel, da primeira temporada da série de TV O Senhor dos Anéis: Os Anéis de Poder, pela ótica do arquétipo da mulher guerreira (Maia, 2019), tendo como ponto de partida as obras originais adaptadas pela série: O Silmarillion, Contos Inacabados e O Senhor dos Anéis. A pesquisa investiga como eventos traumáticos podem estar condicionados à sua categorização como guerreira e, para tal, foi realizada uma análise dos elementos hipertextuais entre livros e série a partir dos conceitos de Genette (2010). Os resultados desta etapa de análise possibilitaram a investigação sobre a presença de eventos traumáticos na história da personagem, sob conceitos de Caruth (1996) e a categorização de Galadriel como mulher guerreira tanto na obra original quanto na adaptada, posteriormente articulada aos conceitos de tecnologias de gênero de De Lauretis (1994). A partir deste processo metodológico, os resultados reforçam que a condição de mulher guerreira em Galadriel está presente nas obras originais e na adaptação, mas que a última se difere ao vincular a existência de traumas à sua condição de guerreira, aspecto que contribui para a construção de padrões de gênero narrativos e sociais

Abstract: This dissertation analyzes the narrative construction of Galadriel's character in the first season of the TV series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power through the lens of the warrior woman archetype (Maia, 2019). It takes as its starting point the original works adapted by the series: The Silmarillion, Unfinished Tales, and The Lord of the Rings. The research investigates how traumatic events may be linked to her categorization as a warrior. To achieve this, a hypertextual analysis between the books and the series was conducted based on the concepts of Genette (2010). The results of this analytical stage allowed for an investigation into the presence of traumatic events in the character's story, drawing on the theories of Caruth (1996), and the categorization of Galadriel as a warrior woman both in the original works and in the adaptation, later articulated with De Lauretis’ (1994) concepts of gender technologies. Through this methodological process, the findings reinforce that Galadriel’s identity as a warrior woman is present in both the original works and the adaptation. However, the adaptation differs by linking the existence of trauma to her warrior identity, an aspect that contributes to the construction of narrative and social gender patterns
