A interdisciplinaridade entre matemática e arte : subsídios para uma abordagem histórico-epistemológica

Abstract

Resumo : Esta pesquisa realiza uma análise histórico-epistemológica da relação entre matemática e arte, tomando como referência as obras de artistas como Leonardo Da Vinci, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian e Maurits Cornelis Escher. Evidencia-se, inicialmente, a existência de uma via dupla de interação entre matemática e arte, na qual uma área influencia e inspira a outra, e discute-se o caráter diurno e noturno da ciência, seguindo a filosofia de Gaston Bachelard. Além disso, explora-se o conceito de abstrato segundo as perspectivas de Platão e Aristóteles, estabelecendo bases para o desenvolvimento teórico do estudo. No capítulo principal, investigou-se em que medida os artistas refletem a ciência de seu tempo em suas obras, por meio de um apanhado histórico-epistemológico que relaciona aspectos matemáticos com a produção artística. Ressalta-se que o foco maior está na ciência, e não na arte em si. Por fim, o trabalho apresenta uma breve reflexão sobre a interdisciplinaridade entre arte e matemática, destacando suas interconexões ao longo da história

Abstract : This research conducts a historical-epistemological analysis of the relationship between mathematics and art, referencing the works of artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, Wassily Kandinsky, Piet Mondrian and Maurits Cornelis Escher. Initially, it highlights the existence of a two-way interaction between mathematics and art, where one field influences and inspires the other, and discusses the dual nature of science, described as "daytime" and "nighttime", following Gaston Bachelard's philosophy. Additionally, it explores the concept of the abstract from the perspectives of Plato and Aristotle, establishing a theoretical foundation for the study. The main chapter investigates how artists reflect the science of their time in their works through a historical-epistemological overview that links mathematical aspects to artistic production. It is emphasized that the primary focus lies on science rather than art itself. Finally, the study offers a brief reflection on the interdisciplinarity between art and mathematics, highlighting their interconnections throughout history
