Catástrofe ou reviravolta pulsional? : uma análise crítica da tradução e interpretação do termo umsturz em Freud

Abstract

Resumo: Esta dissertação propõe uma análise crítica da tradução e interpretação do termo Umsturz em Freud, questionando a ideia de que o autor teria identificado uma "catástrofe" na relação mãe filha. A pesquisa se baseia em uma revisão da literatura em Freud e na análise crítica de dissertações e teses acadêmicas que frequentemente associam a relação da menina com a mãe a uma catástrofe subjetiva, afirmando que, assim, Freud teria antecipado a noção lacaniana e pós-lacaniana de devastação feminina. O objetivo geral deste trabalho foi estabelecer uma hipótese alternativa à interpretação predominante do termo Umsturz no contexto da discussão freudiana sobre a feminilidade. Identificamos que Umsturz se refere, de fato, a uma "reviravolta" pulsional, destacando as viragens decisivas entre passividade e atividade na sexualidade feminina, sem implicar qualquer conotação catastrófica. Consideramos, por outro lado, que é ao abordar a "voracidade da libido infantil" e o retorno dessa voracidade contra o eu que Freud faz contribuições significativas para a compreensão do que hoje se entende como devastação feminina. Nossa pesquisa apresenta evidências que contradizem a leitura dominante, especialmente em relação à tradução do termo Umsturz e sua aplicação no texto freudiano, promovendo uma compreensão mais precisa das formulações de Freud sobre a sexualidade feminina e as reviravoltas pulsionais envolvidas nesse percurso. Sugerimos que a noção de "catástrofe" na relação mãe-filha deve ser revista, pois nossa análise traz luz sobre o problema que a envolve, reconhecendo, contudo, que o debate sobre o tema permanece em aberto

Abstract: This dissertation proposes a critical analysis of the translation and interpretation of the term Umsturz in Freud, questioning the idea that the author identified a "catastrophe" in the mother daughter relationship. The research is based on a review of Freudian literature and a critical analysis of dissertations and thesis that often associate the girl's relationship with her mother with a subjective catastrophe, suggesting that Freud thereby anticipated the Lacanian and post Lacanian notion of feminine devastation. The general aim of this study was to establish an alternative hypothesis to the prevailing interpretation of the term Umsturz within Freud's discussion of femininity. We identified that Umsturz indeed refers to a "turning point" of drives, emphasizing the decisive shifts between passivity and activity in female sexuality, without any catastrophic connotations. On the other hand, we argue that it is through Freud's engagement with the "voracity of infantile libido" and its return against the ego that Freud offers significant contributions to understanding devastation. Our research provides evidence that contradicts the dominant reading, particularly regarding the translation of the term Umsturz and its application in Freud's text, promoting a more precise understanding of Freud's formulations on female sexuality and the turning point of the drives involved in this trajectory. We suggest that the notion of "catastrophe" in the mother-daughter relationship should be revisited, as our analysis sheds light on the problem surrounding it, while recognizing that this debate remains open
