    Abstract

Abstract: Spinocerebellar ataxias (SCA) are autosomal dominant hereditary diseases with low prevalence and with 50 types described. These diseases are neurodegenerative and present different phenotypes with different progression speeds between their types, in addition to clinical manifestations with different severity. The types of SCA historically most studied in Brazil are in descending order: 3, 2 and 10. Over the years, cohorts of patients with SCA in different locations around the world were followed and progressively described different comorbidities between the types of SCA. Among them, polyneuropathy began to be described with a high potential for unpleasant symptoms experienced by patients. However, there is no review in the medical literature that summarizes the findings of studies that evaluate polyneuropathy in these groups of patients. This study aims to systematically review the findings in the medical literature in different databases, in order to describe in its results the main characteristics of polyneuropathy, when present, in patients with SCA 2, 3 and 10
