Com pressa não se chega a lugar nenhum; com calma também não : arte e geografia ao encontro do gesto

Abstract

Resumo: Este trabalho é uma tentativa interdisciplinar de articular geografia e arte, a partir de reflexões sobre o gesto. Com uma revisão conceitual realizada no primeiro ano de investigação, feita por meio da metodologia arqueológica — que propõe que a tradição dos termos seja confrontada e que se investigue como eles emergiram e vêm sendo trabalhados ao longo do tempo — a pesquisa traçou um caminho que problematizou o modo como, em muitos trabalhos, a arte e a geografia têm sido associadas: por um lado, a arte aparece subjugada ao saber científico geográfico, encarada como uma metodologia que serve para se atingir resultados; por outro lado, a geografia limita-se a ser uma estrutura analítica que espacializa as obras de arte e que, necessariamente, precisa obter resultados práticos. Com reflexões acerca do gesto, que aqui é compreendido como aquilo que suspende e exibe um momento, o trabalho buscou construir um campo de possibilidade para a produção de arte e geografia através de uma reorientação da Ciência-Filosofia-Arte possibilitada pela fenomenologia. Para isso, alguns limites precisaram ser tensionados através da escrita, da formatação do trabalho e do modo como as palavras, junto com as imagens, são dispostas criando uma narrativa. A intenção foi fazer com que o próprio trabalho apresentado fosse um gesto e, com isso, possuísse uma dimensão política. Além do trabalho em texto, a dissertação é composta também por fotografias e por um filme, curta metragem, onde as reflexões são também exercidas e expostas. Tendo isso em vista, esta dissertação dissolveu alguns limites que envolvem a produção de conhecimento hoje.

Abstract: This work is an interdisciplinary attempt to articulate geography and art through reflections on gesture. Following a conceptual review in the first year of investigation using archaeological methodology—which suggests that the tradition of terms be confronted and investigated for their emergence and evolution over time—the research charted a path that problematized the association of art and geography. On one hand, art seemed subordinated to geographical scientific knowledge, viewed as a methodology for achieving results; on the other hand, geography was confined to being an analytical framework that spatializes works of art and necessarily seeks practical outcomes. Through reflections on gesture, understood here as that which suspends and exhibits a moment, the work sought to construct a field of possibility for the production of art and geography through a reorientation of Science-Philosophy-Art facilitated by phenomenology. This involved challenging some boundaries through writing, formatting, and how words, along with images, are arranged to create a narrative. The intention was to make the presented work itself a gesture and, thereby, possess a political dimension. In addition to the textual work, the dissertation also includes photographs and a short film where reflections are exercised and exposed. With this in mind, this dissertation dissolved some of the boundaries surrounding knowledge production today.
